Apples About 4 pounds 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 2 pounds of sugar Peel apples and core em, Cook em until fruit is kinda soft. for as much apples you can steal from the neighbors orchard use half as much sugar..Cook to a rapid boil until mixture is thick. Spoon into hot sterlized jars and place in water bath, boil for 20 minutes. take jars out turn upside down for 5 minutes and then turn upright , let stand undisturbed for 24 hours.. ********************************************

I make mine in a slow cooker for 11-12 hours, spoon into jelly jars & seal, El~yummo! I also add cloves and allspice, love all the spices, and use brown sugar.

I love apple butter and I have never had homemade! It would have to be great!! Ya'll making want a stack cake!!

Laura, I use apple juice, it only takes a wee~bit! I'd say about 1/3 cup to a full crockpot of apples. I am bad I don't measure, just pour it in! I think you will like the brown sugar in it, it gives the apple butter that certain taste that apples need when cooked. I forgot to tell ya that I smash it down with a potato masher, as it cooks down. Christy,
