Scuttelaria lateriflora; Mad Dog Skullcap A small low growing herb for shaded areas. Likes fairly fertile soil and regular watering. A mint family plant. Take top while still in bloom for the active part. I've never run into this herb while foraging It by report was also used for treatment of rabies! I never got a good dose worked out from either dried or tincture to reduce spasms. Collect seed from half the bed (collect t'other half while flowering for herbal use) Seed pods can be dragged off from still fresh (or dried) tops. Winnow after drying seed.

Unlike some herbs this one doesn't make me gag as a dried(in gel caps) or as tincture. I just wish I knew a relable doseing system.
FWIW people with MS have a teir of prescribed meds from their doctor for spasms that can have quite onerous and troublesom side effects. My search for less troublesom herbs has been the result.
