;D good luck with that Phil I keep meaning to do a drive by the old homes the mines bought out years ago. The place the iris's I mentioned are growing is kinda the same Christy... property the state bought out, it's WMA land (wildlife management) so it's OK to take plant material from the property...meant to get some last year

Really nice, love the photos. We have a few but not many blooms. I think they are to shaded. CF dunno CF, we have some that sorta took off towards the shady side of the garage, they bloom ok...but, they get about 3 hours of direct sun and a couple of daylight...pretty much shaded after that...sometime just dividing them sets them to blooming and growing like crazy...

I agree with Phil you should divide them every 3-4 years, also after bloom or in fall when they start looking haggerd, dont cut them back. or if you do leave at least 6inches of leaves. as the leaves die it feeds the bulbs or rhizomes for next years blooms. Its supost to be Iris needs full sun to bloom but Ive seen them blooming in shaded areas. my two tones iris is down by my shaded garden. they get part sun - part shade. I have a pink bearded Iris but I have yet to get a pic of it, one of these years ill remember to snap a pic of it.
