Hey phrends My mom-in-law just came back from the Goodwill store and brought this back for me. It was only 4 bucks! The house stands about 10 inches tall or so. The blades spin real well and there's a clean-out on the back. Anyone know what kind of bird this is for? - or is this just decorative? Thanks! ;D

I would think the spinning blades would scare away the birds. Put it up and let us know if any bird makes a home in it.

Mike That's a nice birdhouse... as for the blades, it's anyones guess...it depends on the bird...not necessarily the bird species and the Opening...measure it... Two type of Us old bird house makers exist.... One who make birdhouses for fun... and has just ONE hole sawthen there's those among us who make birdhouses for fun... and Have an ASSORTMENT...of hole saws... Usually the Crafter don't care...what type of birds move in... But if they do...Dimension is the key...Ifin yer holes too big fer your desired species...it won't stay because larger birds can move in.. too small...well You get the idea... GrannyG sums it up real well though...Sparrows aren't picky...they'll move in to anything..But... The lowly sparrow...eats his weight in insects from your gardens many time a year!!! Here's the best chart I could "borrow" online... Typically, I make my birdhouse entrances .. 1 1/8-1 1/4"...as do most pholks just because most the birds that are common like that size...

NICE! Thanks Phil! I'll measure the hole when i get home from work. And ifn' it looks like the blades are scaring the birds away, I can always fix 'em so they don't move. I'm thinking I might hang this from one of our maple trees and see what happens.

I like the bird house NFG. It's pretty neat I must say! We had a pair of old jeans hanging on the clothes line a few years ago..well we left them out a tad bit longer then we should have.. & guess what was building a nest in Phils pants pockets? The little Wrens were. Funny ;D as it took a long time to get all the tiny sticks out.

I'm guessing those blades are Ornithologic Air Conditioning ;D Little birdies might be glad of that in the heat of the summer
