I had to move my container garden so I rooted suckers from 4 plants and put them in 5-gallon buckets. They are calling for frost this coming Sunday night so I picked all the tomatoes big enough to fry (only had 4 to ripen) and plan to go back and get the really small ones to chop for chow-chow. I might have a couple gallons plus I plan to add green peppers, onions etc so I will have to boil a few jars. Wish me luck.

W8~ That _IS_ the recipe, lol. Green tom, sweet peppers, onions, maybe a cuke or two if they look good at the store. Chop, boil it, seal it! I'll throw in some mustard seed of course and soak it all down with cider vinegar. Easy on the sugar and salt for this crowd tho. In other words it's pickle relish with green tomatoes subbed for most of the cukes. The Amish around here throw in corn, green beans, whatever is left in the garden but I'd rather not.

Sounds GREAT...and we just happen to have "some" green mators...maybe 150 pounds or so...

LOL, Phil that's "some" alright. I have about a gallon more or less. It'll be twice that when all's added. I hope I have a pan big enough!

Well I chopped everything and seasoned the mash and put in the reefer overnight. I don't have much energy these days so most any chore has to be spread out over a couple days. Today I'll get it hot and cut the heat down to a simmer for a while. On an unrelated note, I just learned a quart canning jar will screw right on in place of the blender jug. Handy to know for grinding dried peppers to a powder. Blend and let it settle, then put a lid on the jar. No funneling! That saves the toxic cloud. This way I don't have to scrub the hot out of the blender, lid etc.
