We will plant our main crop of tomato seed in two weeks, over a week that will be about 400 plants not including what Abe is planting. He insists on doing all the tomatoes in his greenhouse which includes 1500 plants and also patio verities that he sell at market maybe another 100 or so....I'm not sure exactly. Soon he will be calling me for help to start his seed planting. I sit and work he stands for hours and hours. 78yrs old and a house of fire. The peppers and eggplant I start here with heat mats and then some grow lights, then I will trans plant and harden them off here. The scarlet red tomato, we are only doing 20-25 plants just to see how they produce, and if they market well.

Good grief. That's a lot of tomatoes. Which the 425 that we plant, or the 1500 or so that Abe plants? For us I wish we could plant more but we just don't have the room when you figure in all the rest of the planting. If I find a better outlet for our garlic and peppers, Ill be needing more acres to plant. We have a 4 Acre plot at Abe's farm if we want it, but that all depends on how we build on our customer base....not a sure thing yet. By the way Abe used to put in 35,000 or more tomatoes every season before he decided to cut back and sell off 75 Acres, years ago. Not to mention the many other crops he grew. Abe is the real farmer, and a great friend.
