Mrs working in the garden, brussels sprouts making babies, going to do more of those next year Neighbor had 4 six month old ducks needing homes. The white are female Pekin, heavy fat things,if they didnt lay an egg a day would eat em! Did you know ducks are ready to eat at 42 days!! 2.5 lbs feed per pound of duck weight. The males are Rouens,we named em Rowan and Martin. Girl very excited to have new charges, she really feels like she has a job, watching over em,all smiles. Snooky not so sure we really need more ducks. Now 5 ducks,5 chickens

Staying above freezing so turned off lights on citrus.Using 250 watts. At 38 cents a Kwhr thats every 4 hours I use one KW,the cost is high as it bumps rate up to tier 3,tier one is 13 cents,2 is 18 cents and 3 is 38 cents, wowie!!!!
Long story short, electric went from about 40-50 to 110 last month. So ordered some thermostats so only clicks on at 35 degrees. One was 50 bucks, can turn on at 35 and off 2 degrees later at 37F,fully adjustable===================================================== That is a great thermostat! Got to about 34 -35 degrees last night and didnt turn on.Night before at 33F turned on at about 5am.So saving my energy use really well.

spuds, do you sell your fruit? No,we will never have more than we can eat.Just planted summer 2013,reckon 2-3 years before they adjust to climate and start producing as we hope them to do. Pretty cool, was talking about them at store and a guy looked at us like we had three heads, told him how we are doing it. I like doing what cant be done,we did veggies and flowers in pots in Mohave desert, all said it cant be done, temp 110F plus all summer with winds. We used drip irrig, misters, shade cloth and building shade, yup, they did good, our flowers were outrageous.

are you growing oranges? How many trees? I have a lemon tree. Cant get a decent pic,the trees are really pretty, there are 4 rows, front citrus,2nd peach/citrus.3rd pears/lemon.4th is 5 apple trees, all different.2 pomegranates on left side fence, berries along top fence.Big bang for a small space.I think 21 trees in that area. ====================================================== Got lemons, limes, grapefruit, tangerines, oranges, apples, peaches, pears, nectarines.Only things I have to cover are the citrus. When fruit trees established will take only very minimal watering, apples and cherries grow wild here.
