We have to stand with our cats so they can eat because the babies are learning to fly and the parents are bombing our cats constantly. It's sort of payback because our cats have killed a lot of birds in their day.
Christy, if you find a mockingbird you can get close to it. They'll eat out of your hand. Very social birds.

The great thing about mockingbirds is that they sing every song they hear. You'll think your yard is full of all sorts of birds and it will be just one mockingbird.
The babies have taken flight and I think they're safe.

Yes they are!! And I have seen them! I just didn't know what kind it was. In fact yesterday as I was setting at the picnic table I seen a bird and heard it in the tree, I was wondering what kind it was. Now I know!

Bestofour, that is one fine photo. The Mocking Bird is the state bird of Texas. We see lots of them here around the house, I know they are nesting but haven't seen any nest. Some time I can hear them singing in the night, strange but true. CF

ChileFarmer, my daughter lives in GA and at her first house, where she lived alone and was a little bit scared at night, a mockingbird would start singing at sundown and would sing most of the night. If she could have found that bird she would have shot it.

Great photo, just saw this. That is awesome. My Uncle used to love Mockingbirds. He has passed away now but they always remind me of him.
