He is so destructive. He digs and chews. Any ideas how to stop him from digging? My back yard is full of holes.

Ohhh my I thought I had posted a thread about my grandson and didn't remember. lol Grandson is Grayson I don't know how to keep them from digging, I would assume exercise and probably alot of it! Or get him a pack put it on his back and let him carry stuff for you. Alot of times giving them a job helps them with other issues. I sometimes think of Dogs like a horse. If a horse is bored they tend to get into trouble. You have to give them something eles to do. I am thinking of making my dog a pack even tho he is only a shihtzu I think it will be good for him.

Yah problem I am so busy during the day I can't be with him all the time. My hay is cut now so will take them down the field for exercise before I start my day. They have a huge yard to play in? I have taken him to doggy daycare but can't afford it every day. He does have Maizie to play with but I can see her telling him off as she likes to just chill. I put an Elizabethan cone on him which I think helps but that is so not fair.. He is about a year and 3/4's now will he ever just grow out of it?

I hope he outgrows it. My Mommy's dog eats fabic. And sometimes lots of it. So far, it has not affected his health. The vet had no ideas why or how to stop it. I guess there are just certain things certain dogs do.

We are talking digging now?Im convinced he may outgrow it,he looks like a lot of Alaskan Husky and they do get bored with things over time been my limited experience with the breed. I have no real answer,I let Snooky dig a hole or two and just fill em in,she has gotten bored with the digging pretty much.More fun to harass her sister.Much better feedback,LOL. She does like to bury things, like Girls favorite toys,LOL,just to irritate her.Durn kids! Snooks isnt into toys,Girl its her big thing. So to irritate Snooky Girl takes a squeeky toy, stuffs it in her ear and squeeks it.To get even Snooks will grab girls stuffed toy favorite, run like the blazes to the porch and start ripping the stuffing out.Or when we play fetch with Girl,Snooky will blast past her, grab toy and run off with it.Then leave it somewhere.Good thing we get em by the bagful for next to nothing at thrift store. Crazy mutts, worse than little kids at times.Boy they sure can make you laugh!

LOL toys omg yes and he has destroyed them all. I have a Frisbee (kong) that I play with him if I am not too late. He is good catches it most every time. I know Maizie use to dig and she did grow out of it and now is the best dog ever. I just don't remember how old she was when she stopped. I use to put poo in the holes but he would just make new holes. Very hard to mow the back yard very bumpy. lol
