Looks like good eats to me. I have eaten many (and I mean many) jackrabbits. Granted I don't like them as well as cotton tails or swamp rabbits. One of the best dishes I ever made was jackrabbit chili. I really have never seen a jackrabbit that looked like those. Must be there winter coat? CF

Never had Jackrabbit but hubbs was raising rabbits till a couple years ago. I don't like rabbit but him and his brother just love rabbit. Dave and I cook separately for the most part. He cannot give up his noodles. And for him to eat GF noodles would be so pricy unless he absolutely had to! He likes crap really.. Hamburger helper and Zatarans and boxed stuff.... I don't eat boxed stuff, not even GF boxed stuff. The video I can hear but the screen is black. Nag dab it!

Another "put together what's around and needs to be used" success 2706 Had some frozen green beans-put them to boil Melted some butter in a skillet and threw in sesame seeds to toast a while-then some slivered almonds and dried onions. Drained the beans and put them in the skillet Added a "creamy chicken" flavour pkt. from ramen noodles, some water and soy sauce. Simmered the whole thing together for 10 minutes and devoured with some pork steak from last night. Best green beans in a long time !!

Oh hell, gotta die from something right ? Seriously, it was a "use what you have thing" and one little packet stretched thru all those beans can't be that bad. Neither salt nor MSG is "poison", like most things, moderation is the key. And it was right tasty !! I agree with Moderation being the key Mike, I am very sensitive to MSG. and for that matter..excessive amounts of salt. That is the one reason I don't eat a lot of processed food, almost none... THE FOLLOWING, Although a ..IS NOT... aimed at You Mike, or anyone here, I detest the use of excessive amounts of any substance in our foods... APPROVED BY THE FDA and deemed SAFE in MODERATE amounts...Moderation IS..tough..when You consider that if you do eat processed foods, eat out often, etc. that almost everything you stick in your mouth..has a small amount in it...If a person looks at packaged foods..or asks at their favorite *restaurants ( *side note- it has been said that the "secret" to KFC's taste is a generous dose of MSG ) The "short answer" is NO...But... hidden in the ingredients/ingredient labels..are forms of MSG... Monosodium glutamate (MSG) Synonyms: Glutamic Acid Hydrolyzed protein Autolyzed protein Textured protein Yeast extract Autolyzed yeast extract Protein isolate Soy sauce Modified food starch Modified corn starch Calcium caseinate Sodlium caseinate Broth Maltodextrin Seasonings Natural flavor Monopotassium glutamate Glutamate Gelatin Hydrolyzed vegetable protein Hydrolyzed plant protein Textured protein Yeast food Yeast nutrient Torula yeast So, as tasty as your dish was..and I bet it was..You had AT LEAST 2 doses of MSG... One from the flavor packet...One from the Soy Sauce...and if you look...even more.. The fact that the Japanese eat a lot of MSG...and remain healthy & Fit, is due to their discipline and habits of NOT Over eating.. MSG is a flavor enhancer...AS is Salt..causing one to over eat... takes advantage of our biologically hard-wired taste receptors, and makes it very hard to stop eating the foods "seasoned" with this ingredient Here is a link www.msgtruth.org/avoid.htmthat shows most everything containing MSG at the top of the list is a paragraph about a new source of MSG... Umami Paste ®....I prefer my Umami to come from knowledgeable food prep Something to ponder:

Tonight , I had some burger in the freezer. I took it out, when hubbs came home, he said he was having nothing to do with that. I said thats fine you have enuf left overs your good. Well I used a lb of burger, a can of mixed beans or tri beans, some garlic, Onions , Kale, Broccoli , and a few Tbls of hot Salsa OMG hubbs could not get enuf of it! After he ate his dinner. Oh I did stick some mixed rice with some brown rice, wild rice and a bit of white rice. I browned the burger and cooked the rice separate , I always rinse canned beans because of salt and stuff, after the browning and rinsing, I just add stuff thats good, Salsa , some garlic some Onion, some rinsed beans , some Kale and some Broccoli , A few heads any way.. OMG Must of been the best put together thing , cuz after hubbs ate his dinner he ate so much of mine I was thinking .. Hmmm I'll have enuf to keep me good for the next few days .. LOL Ummm nope!

I'm sorry Phil-But your list of "MSG synonyms" is just plain wrong ! Some things on the list contain MSG, some are chemically related to it, some are used as substitutes and some-I can't see why they are on the list ! But they are NOT synonyms !! OK-I will accept that some people may have reactions to MSG and other similar substances. As I have said before-I am one of the lucky people who can eat pretty much anything with no issues. Some folk have bad reactions to shellfish, peanuts, broad beans, etc.. That does not mean they are unsafe for everyone. I agree with your point about excessive amounts of salt etc., etc.. Key word-excessive.I agree that obesity is a big problem.I don't agree that it's all they fault of "big bad food companies" selling us stuff we just can't resist. What ever happened to self control and personal responsibility ? I eat pretty much what ever I want-some prepared foods, some fast food, mostly home cooked by me or family and I have maintained my same weight within a range of plus or minus 5 pounds for 50 years or so. BTW-My soy sauce (Kikkoman Naturally Brewed) has no MSG added. Quite salty tho so I don't use very much.

I do feel moderation is a key to alot of Obesity in this country, That being said I watch the show my 600 lb. life. And if you can see what these people eat. Oh my! But even when they go on the diet for weeks and lose over 150 lbs. Start having 1 soda a week bam they stop losing. Pop , Soda or what ever you want to call it is a horrible thing! It expands the stomach. I do not drink pop. Mostly because it has Corn Syrup in it. When I figured out I was intolerant to Corn. (Thats in most pre packaged things.) I quit eating all forms. And lost over 40 lbs. Once in a while I can drink a mexican coke, but I tell myself why? It has stuff in it I am not supposed to have so I just say no. My friends try and keep some stuff around that I can have. I'm like but I don't like that stuff. I don't want to drink it and I don't want it. I see people feed their kids soda, and a bunch of High fructose corn syrup stuff and I feel horrid for them. But I don't judge, I just go on with what I do. I do get my grand kids good stuff they love when they come here. No Corn syrup, no Gluten, no artificial sweetener, Just naturally clean food. Msg is a bad thing for me! also! No MSG here! No soy sauce, no table salt. I use sea salt. Regular table salt has corn in it. So I do not use it. They use corn to infuse the iodine or some something. I know it has something to do with the iodine.

BTW-My soy sauce (Kikkoman Naturally Brewed) has no MSG added. Quite salty tho so I don't use very much. Mike which of those on the list do Not contain a form of MSG or naturally occurring msg? admittedly "synonyms" may have been a misnomer MSG occurs naturally in ingredients such as hydrolyzed vegetable protein, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed yeast, yeast extract, soy extracts, and protein isolate, Even..tomatoes and cheeses. dtb Regardless I agree that a little won't hurt some pholks.. But my beef is...deceiving Us...with labeling loopholes... While FDA requires that these products be listed on the ingredient panel, the agency does not require the label to also specify that they naturally contain MSG. However, foods with any ingredient that naturally contains MSG cannot claim “No MSG” or “No added MSG” on their packaging. MSG also cannot be listed as “spices and flavoring.” Food allergy victims...have problems too ..but recent labeling laws have alleviated most of those issues, complete with the knowledge of IF..the item was processed/produced in a facility where nuts, shellfish etc. was also processed/produced I bet W8in can tell You just how hard it is to have to research everything for possible gluten/glutimates
But, how many folks know what "hydrolyzed vegetable protein" is? Agreeably, pholks should have self control...It is widely known, and accepted that the food industry uses a form of MSG or MSG to enhance foods flavor... If I was to buy Accent, and put it on food, it would make it Much tastier (artificially) and "No one could eat..just one" the Big Bad food companies...would be out of business if the food wasn't enhanced I did check our Soy Sauce...same brand/type as yours..it Does Not contain MSG..salty as could be though from the Sodium Benzoate....

"Mike which of those on the list do Not contain a form of MSG or naturally occurring msg? admittedly "synonyms" may have been a misnomer" First, there is no such thing as a "form" of MSG. MSG is a chemical and a substance either is it or is not it. It may be a related chemical but not a "form" of MSG. Next, some things on the list (such as broth, seasonings, natural flavor) are so vague as to have no clear meaning. Some (such as gelatin)do not contain MSG but DO contain glutamic acid. Here is a relavent quote from Wikipedia. "Glutamic acid, being a constituent of protein, is present in every food that contains protein, but it can only be tasted when it is present in an unbound form. Significant amounts of free glutamic acid are present in a wide variety of foods, including cheese and soy sauce, and is responsible for umami, one of the five basic tastes of the human sense of taste. Glutamic acid is often used as a food additive and flavor enhancer in the form of its salt, known as monosodium glutamate (MSG)". I added the underline. "Regardless I agree that a little won't hurt some pholks." I would change that to "most" rather than "some". And yes, I know I am picky and pedantic about the "exact" meaning of words. I hate when people say "You know what I meant" and usually answer "No, I know what you said. What the hell did you mean ?" over. Have a nice day.

I suppose maby I had some intolerances w/o knowing it at the time? Anyhow just my 2 cents. LOL You know what I mean? Just kidding!! LOL Thats something my friend and I say all the time!

BestoFour .. Me no! I am not in the best of health. Only because of my Celiac ... And other intolerances , I feel I am way beyond my years. When I see my 80+ year old mom and father inlaws (X inlaws) be in such great physical health) No I do not see my self in great shape. But thats my Celiac it is not the normal person. So what your asking is a tricky question. If you don't eat a healthy diet. Do you feel like your at your prime health? How do you know? When you switch do you feel it? Hard to know. This is just me talking that has had up and down health problems for over a year, that I know of! I was always searching for something that would work! Come to find out. I always felt better when I ate at home. When I ate out is when I had the worst problems. Even eating at other peoples houses I had such bad problems. I said it was all the pre packaged , full of crap they made. When I was home eating a dinner with canned goods, and healthy stuff I felt so much better. So yes I feel better now that my Folic Acid is renewed! But not in excellent health. But because of Celiac. I see the sun shining tho!

w8in, there used to be a restaurant in town where we'd go every Saturday. The owner was getting thinner and thinner and looking sicker and sicker and older and older. She always told us she was so tired and exhausted. We thought it was just because she had to work long hours being in the food industry. Come to find out she has celiac disease. It took a while for her to get it under control and she ended up closing her restaurant but she finally got a lot better.
