Thanks Folks wave Penny, Bill...so sorry for your poor year/weather... You know, we were just plain ol blessed this year.. Figuring we had a slow start and all with Laura's health... We persevered ..Laura's a trooper for sure Then, as everything was just starting to GROW< Grow, Grow.. Laura started coming home with reports to the fact that IN EVERY GARDEN..she drives by everyday... Pholks Tomato plants were dtb Where Ours were healthy and lush.. I started out treating the tomatoes early on, and stayed extra vigilant in light of her reports... They stayed healthy right up to the last...we were indeed blessed and it was also dry..Praise Lord for a good well Here's the tomato crop on the 7th. of July....most every garden we viewed..was not as lucky...even Our closest neighbor had blight

When you say that you "treated" them Phil, what did you do? Good Question Penny hpltr Now, I will give a LONG ANSWER..to a short question As I have said many times.. PREVENTION...is the key.. As far as I know, unless something new (and most likely Toxic)has come on the market.. There is No cures for blights and or disease in tomatoes... so beginning before planting time I first spray all the cages and supports in a 50/50 bleach solution..Just In case..anything Bad be lurking on them Then, the areas where the plants will grow I over-spray with 3% peroxide..straight out of the lil brown bottle Then we mulch with hay to prevent any "splash up" from the soil during rains..VERY important!! SIDE NOTE: Stronger peroxide is available, but the 3% does the trick, is easier to get and is cheaper than the higher percentage stuff. Then when the plants are about the size of the one pictured below... I over-spray them with a Epsom Salt/water solution of: 1 cup Epsom salts: 5 gallons water
The Epsom supplies Magnesium..and the plants Green up..and Grow like crazy after this treatment!
Now, when Laura came home with HORROR STORIES about what she was seeing in other gardens..then the neighbor said her tomatoes were dying...
I sprayed twice ..once with a copper spray, a week later with Epsom again
Now, all this being said..and as I stated above....I Do NOT believe there is a cure..However... 4 years back..Our tomatoes did get early blight...the foliage was dead half way up the plant.. I BOMBARDED them with the Epsom solution...within a week, the plants perked up, grew up and over the tops of the cages..and we had a BUMPER crop...
I just believe the magnesium in the Epsom salts gives them a PUSH..and it does make phosphorous and essential elements more available to the plants....

Wow thanks!! Going to have to try this next year, it was such a bust this year and the mulch/hay makes sense too.
