well even though the weather has been erratic, I did get a start yesterday afternoon at planting. I got 305 in before dusk.
We will finish today if possible, However, snow flurries/drizzle is in the forecast for this morning, a small chance...
And, it will be 40° tops, with a 30-40 mph wind out of the north..not good out here on the prairie
Yesterday we were going to plant and Yesterdays small chance ...well we had rain yesterday morning, just enough to put off planting until about 3 p.m.
We are cutting back to 750 this year, other produce we need, and Yes, time has taken it's toll and we ARE, cutting back this year.
I know we have said this before and LIED..what we did was Grow More!!
But, this coming season, we are going to do is focus on what we need to make our canned goodies, and concentrate less on fresh produce for the market, there will still be some, but not excessive amounts..
It's like this:
We, can get 3 bucks for a pound of fresh green beans.
But, if we make Dilly beans out of that pound of beans, we get 8 bux a quart!
The other reason to 'cut back' and the most Important one...
Pholks, Ya'll have been here with Laura and I from darn near the beginning of our relationship
We met in 2003, married in 2005
probably won't be celebrating no golden anniversary, although I pray we do..
So We are NOT, going to spend so much time or every Saturday at the market!
Market prep, harvest and packing- Takes all day Friday
Saturday Morning: Up at 2:30 a.m. NOT BAD, until school starts, and Laura doesn't get home till 11:45 p.m.
At market to set up: 4:00 a.m.
Market runs until noon or 3 p.m.
So you can deduce That Saturday afternoon is sleepy time time
and Sunday is a laid back/worn out day
We are going to see some nice places
we will be visiting friends/family...we haven't left home in 6 years.
we will be going fishing...6 years ago, we got our license and used them once
I am sure there have been thoughts of where we have been and not posting a lot, At 64 years old, I moves a bit lower now
