I love mockingbirds. My neighbor hates them. LOL. We have one that follows me all over the garden. We have many birdbaths and birdfeeders, and this bird will fly near me to the top of the bird houses or telephone pole, and begin his song. I was trying to whistle at him last night, and he suddenly flew right down by my feet and looked at me, then he flew up in the trees close by. He is really something. I just love that bird. Hope he sings all summer long. My neighbor curses him...says he would like to shoot him, that bird keeps him awake at night with his noise. LOL.

We also have lots of mockingbirds as well as other varieties. We have a birdbath and keep lots of birdseed out summer and winter. I've never noticed the mockings making noise at night but then I love the night noises during the warm months and keep our bedroom window cracked just so I can listen to all the evening creatures. We have a large cypress tree which I think the mockings must build their nests in because I frequently see them flying in and out of its branches. We also have one outside cat (named LaCat) which we keep very well fed but nevertheless his natural instincts require him to bring us one or two birds a year. He never eats one; it is just his "gift" to us. And what I've noticed is that almost always his "gifts" are mockingbirds. They are very careless about landing on the ground especially near our tomatoes which they love to peck on when ripe. I think they just land too near LaCat and he can't resist the urge to pounce.

I am amazed at the pics you get Tonya. They are sooooo sweet. I've found several old nests in odd places, a broken outside light fixture, the wreath on my front door, my hanging plants on the front porch, but never one with live babies...

Such beautiful photos......WOW......I once had a wren make her nest in my clothespin bag that hung on the clothesline.
