We are starting to sell eggs to some people. They bring their own egg carton, and we sell the eggs for $3.00 a doz. We have do have those "Easter egg' Chickens! I love 'em! we get green, pink, turquoise, and robin's egg blue eggs. We have 25 chickens all together. We also have Buff Orpingtons, they lay the nice brown big eggs. We like having eggs for supper, lunch, and of course breakfast! We eat eggs often though out the week, saves us money on our food budget. I'm having our eggs tested to see how healthy they reay are . should be getting the results in a few weeks. I'll post and let y'all know how our eggs come out "healthywise"

Hey MickyG...most adorable little girl and egg! Our girls are winding down. We only get 1-4 eggs a day now. We dont sell ours so its the perfect amount for our family. I am ordering 25 chicks though...so once they start we will sell. Wasnt sure if anyone here knew this..so I'll just put it out here seeing how it was helpful for us. You can freez eggs. I had no idea. Hadnt really thought about it. But when our girls where producing alot I had more than we could eat. I gave some away to family and friends. But now that they are slowing down with eggs I sometimes need more than I have. So freezing them is great. I just use ice cube trays. Crack my lil eggs into the individual cells and freeze. (sometimes you need to buy the extra large ice cube trays...or just use two cells per egg if you only have the small trays) Once the eggs are frozen I put them into freezer bags and take them out and thaw them as I need them for baking or breakfast.

When I was about 10 years old, my mother sent me down to the local grocery store. 3 blocks away, to buy a dozen eggs. When she opened up the carton, the eggs were frozen. She needed them because it was Saturday, which meant baking day, and she ran out.
Maria is getting big already.

Hey that is a great tip! I never even thought of freezing eggs! Thank-you for the tip! Maria is the apple of my eye! She is growing up fast! In fact too fast! For about two weeks she would not let me tuck her in bed! I was heartbroken! She would give my hubby and I a kiss and then off upstairs she went! If I tried to follow her she would say, "Mommy, I'm big, I go to bed myself!" Well I had to fight myself from not going upstairs anyway, but after two weeks of tucking herself in bed, she is now asking me to tuck her in bed!

I was reading the Commercial Farms replace the ladies every 10 months and they dont start laying the jumbos until their 2nd and 3rd years.Thats why you dont see many jumbos's at the store anymore.
I thought about it,its true,what happened to the Jumbo's? Now I know I think.
