We have never had much trouble with fleas on Storm, but our newest addition-Windy- is a problem child when it comes to the little devils. We have the Flea and tick shampoo and have bathed her several times, but she is still eaten up with the things. I know DAWN dish soap works, but that isn't cutting it either. Now they are in my carpet. Any ideas(short of shaving the dogs ) to get rid of them??

I should have said that we are treating the carpet today and bathing them again, but any tips would be great just the same!

I found a website you can try, go to www.familyherbalremedies.com and it tells you some natural herbal flea remedies that you can make at home and it can also be ordered.

Sorry , click on" pets naturally" and then scroll down from there and it'll show the different oils and how to mix it.

Thanks you guys! Phil had mentioned something about a mixture of herbs to wash them with, but I can't remember what they were. I also remember Penny saying 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar per 10 pounds of body weight, but the difference in size of the two is so big, I was afraid to do that one.

When you bathe your pooch soup the pooch up really good then place pooch in a garage bag keeping head out of bag. let pooch sit there for about 5-10mins. This really kills the fleas! Two questions: Could one feed a dog garlic cloves smash up and put on their food? Would it work the same as garlic pills?

It does'nt matter how you give'em the garlic as long as they get it in'em.

I know this is a december thread but for any future problems.... Start by soaping up the dogs neck really good- lots of suds all the way around the neck up by the head. The reason for this is when you start soaping the dog normally, the fleas head for safer, higher ground. This way, they're trapped. Then proceed to soap up the rest of the pooch and leave it on like Micky said. Follow with and apple cider vinegar rinse. Garlic is awesome but not all dogs like to eat it fresh, I sometimes have to give a chunk of it like a pill. As for the carpet, I've heard of people using a soap trap near a night light. The fleas are attracted to the warm light, jump toward it and land in the trap.

Not sure if it was persistence or garlic, but the fleas are mostly gone! Just the occasional one on either dog. We must have bathed the poor dogs nearly to death. No problems since Dec, but love all the tips! Thanks you guys!!
