All this food talk is making me hungry! My mom and grandmother are experienced at canning, jarring, and preserving. Me, I have no experience with it at all - yet.
I am a great cook though and am quite competent in the kitchen. So when my mom shows me, I'm sure I'll pick it right up. I come from a long line of canners and jarrers, so it's in my blood. I have watched my mom and grandmother do it for years though, so I do know some of the basics.
I recall people screwing things up over the years, that weren't very experienced, who didn't use sterile jars! Also once too, my brother's wife didn't have the lids sealed well enough, and the contents rotted! She couldn't cook worth a hill of beans though, so I really wasn't all that surprised.
When you do something with love, whether it be cooking, gardening, or whatever, it usually turns out ok. Good luck everyone with all you jarring and canning.

Mmmm, I love pickles too! I was looking at seeds today for a great pickling cuke variety! Three years in a row, I grew 'potluck' in my garden, and they were wonderful. A smaller dwarf plant, with the tastiest cucumbers.
Anyway, thanks for all the recipes - was checking them out again..
