I have this 1972 Cub low boy that I bought some 10 yrs ago, and have restored to use as a garden tractor. It has served me for most of those ten years doing various tasks threw the seasons. Trouble is I have spent more time and frustration fixing this darn thing then anyone could imagine, it seams like I do something with it for a few days and then something goes wrong and I'm back to repairing it. Today I went out to the barn to start the old timer and crankity-put-put-crankity-put-put. just couldn't get it to run. I finally said to my wife that is it, as soon as it cools down and I get this thing running it is going up for sale and I am buying something that is reliable. I am sick and tired of wrenching this @#*%# tractor.
Bottom line for me is, I will never buy another persons headache thinking I can keep it working. It's just not worth the aggravation, sweet, and frustration.

JC, you can do this. We do it often. We have 4 tractors. Our oldest tractor is a 1952 Ford. Newest is 2002 Mahindra, best tractor I have ever owned. CF

I went out this morning in the sweltering heat ready for a sweaty cussin time with that 154 Lo-boy and started with removing the distributor cap...looked it over and decided....well let me try somthin simple first, so I cleaned the rotor tip and then the contacts inside of the D-cap. Put it back together said a little prayer and turned the key and it started and ran like a champ. Till the next time . But for now it is back to work.

Not fer nothing but I just got done reading over this post and I had to laugh at myself...Why you may ask? Because I still have that 154 in the barn and it's still working. I sure must have been that pissed over that LowBoy more then I can count, but the bugger is still hanging in there. tky

xdx I looked at the date when I started that thread June 2010 three years ago, and I think I bought that Low Boy in 1999. I have been wrenching on that thing ever since then, and I have threatened to sell it a hundred times. Just can't bring myself to do it.
