I spent 10 years in the machine tool business building components for Case, Caterpillar and John Deere. It's a great field to work in and the machines are always in need maintenance and repair. You've done a great job on the brochures. Wish you the best of success in the business.

Hey Axeman, I spent 5 years selling industrial parts to the steel industry and companies like Case IH.
Rita, there was one Christmas I recall with particular fondness. I received a call from the city fleet garage. They were looking for a rather large bearing to repair a snowplow that had broken down while a storm raged outside. Off I went to the shop (pre internet days) to confirm that there actually was inventory on this particular bearing, which we usually stocked for them. I called the city back and she asked if I could deliver it? Well, there is just one tiny problem...my car was stuck up the road from my warehouse because the plow hadn't been by yet, lol
They sent a mechanic in a 4x4 to rescue me and pick up the bearing.....
And forget taking Vacation between Christmas and New Year's because that's when many fabricators shut down and have their machinery serviced.

Its a good business Keith is one of the last in this field of work .. Has even had a few calls from overseas to fix machines but he will go from Vermont Connecticut New Hampshire Maine Rhode Island .. Sometimes even New York .. Up to Call 5 calendar is filling in nice .. Axe Not many companies left in that line a work .. a few here and there .. but not like there used to be .. But BLRH there is still a Large call for bearings and Gears these machines are rather old in most case .. its tough to find parts like this anymore alot of the original producers of the machines are no longer in business .. so to get factory parts is impossible .. So hats off to ya .. good Job keeping people like my husband in business a while longer

Guess I should fill everyone in on the situation beings I don't beat around the bush at all Keith and his father went into business together 12 years ago just as I moved here .. they were suppose to be partners and his mom refused to let him be a partner because of me .. I am nothing but a "money grubber" and that I would take the business away from him Yeah right whatever well his father had a massive stroke 3 and a half years ago .. still alive but not gonna be working ever again .. his mom told Keith to give them a year to pay off the Medical ect ..and she would hand the business over to him instead she put it in her name .. refusing to give him a raise or do anything to help us out ( we had to file bankruptcy ) almost lost everything .. so little by little we built up enough money to get A good customer ,Insurance , a truck .. blah blah blah .. everything he needed to go out and work on his own soooo now he is taking what is rightfully his

Man Rita, you guys sure have it rough. Glad to hear that you and Keith are getting back on your feet. I also wish the best in your new business endeavor. Would be nice to hear that business is so good that you guys have had to hire more, just to keep up. Does he build, machine, the parts that need to be replaced?

Thanks CP .. He could if he had a machine shop .. has borrowed equipment to do his own modifications to parts ect .. but usually sends them out locally . things like bearings and gears is one of those things he don't do himself .. We are gettin there its just a long journey thanks for all your well wishes !!

I am soooo happy for you guys.......the first couple of years is so daunting, every little things worries you, but i know Keith knows what he's doing and you's will be fine.
Its too bad that Keith isnt up here(tons of work)......with Brad's CNC machine shop, he is always getting calls to make replacement parts to machines......mind you, he has a 6 week turn around at the moment, but thats better then having no work.

Hang in there Rita, my old boss started his business in a garage rebuilding machines and machining the parts himself. when he sold the business, we were doing 35 million a year with Caterpillar, Case and John Deere. You've got a great nitche and with 20 years experience I'm sure Keith will do great. Best wishes
