I have the option to get high-speed internet finally. But it is not based on min. but megabytes. Does anyone else's go by megabytes? I asked how they compared and they told me you couldn't compare them. I'm lost. Can anybody help?

internet goes by kbs killer bytes per second then megabytes per second then gigabytes
1000 killerbytes is 1 megabyte 1000 megabytes is 1 gigabyte i have a one meg connection your speed will depend on how many megabyte connection you have AKA 1 meg 2 meg 3 meg and so on
however your speed also is affected by a number of other things line quality and distance from you exchange
but megabytes is a faster connection than killerbytes

Lucy, I don't know a thing about hi speed, but, that's cause we have dial up... I do know this though. we hook up at a BRAIN DRAINING...SLOW 31.2 kb per sec.
So..If.. 1 Mega byte= 1024 kb. then: 1024 kb. รท 31.2 (our connection)= 32.8205.............
So if you had a 1 meg connection...you'd be connected at 33 (rounded up) time faster than Us....
kilobyte = 1024 bytes................ Commonly rounded down to one thousand bytes. megabyte = , 1,024 kilobytes.. Commonly rounded down to one million bytes. gigabyte = 1024 megabytes.... Commonly rounded down to one billion bytes. terabyte = 1024 gigabytes..... Commonly rounded down to one trillion bytes.
easier to relate to and excepted are.... kb = 1000 mb = 1,000,000 gb = 1,000,000,000 tb = 1,000,000,000,000

Well, I'm still lost but I have signed up for the high speed, it is high speed by satellite. And there is a Gov. program. There is no equipment to buy, no contract, doesn't tie up my phone. I can't wait to try it out. My neighbor got it about a yr ago. She pd $400 for the Satellite and etc. and she pays over $ 70. a month. Mine will be $40 per month. She loves hers. I'll see how it goes, since there is no contract, I can cancel if I don't like it. I am keeping my current internet also. Which is $18 a month plus I pay $8 for Callwave. I hope it works out for me. We'll see.
