Here are a few pictures we took while preparing and planting our potato crop. First run at making our hills for our potatoes Just leaving the upper field so Ruth can take over Ruth busy planting those tiny fingerlings Just another picture of Ruth getting closer to the end of the first row Thats what the little suckers look like, we covered all of them with our compost. We ended up planting two rows about 100 ft each

We were busy all day just came in a few hours ago, If I hadn't tilled the upper field we wouldn't have had the room to plant those tators neither. We planted two verities of fingerlings and on regular verity of white potato. Next week we will be planting sweet potatoes as soon as they get here. Ruth has been busting her but this season to plant all the extra thing we decided to grow, I swear that woman works as hard as any two people I know.
After planting 200ft of potatoes Ruth shoveled the compost I loaded in the dump bucket of the tractor over all those potatoes. I'm just glad we have the tractor to make the hills and trenches.

JC & Ruth, super job. Really looking good. We plant red potatoes, why? I guess because Granddaddy did. We don't see fingerling potatoes often, not even in the market. We do however see Yukon Gold. I haven't plant any of those either. CF

Tell ya the truth before I met Ruth I didn't know what a fingerling potato was...she is the potato expert...when it comes to eating tators. We don't see fingerlings in the market here ether, so that's why Ruth said to me. "GET FINGERLINGS!" I love them, and they are great baked on a baking sheet with Olive oil and salt and pepper. One of the verities I planted they say is an excellent baking potato and is prized by chefs it's called LaRat Fingerling. We will see Ruth is the Taste tester If she approves then we are game on! This is the first for me...growing potatoes that is. Ive been getting hints from Phil so I have a good mentor Christy: That tractor is awesome to have it saves a lot of back breaking work. It's really more suited for working several acres, but it's just fine on our small piece. It's easy to maneuver around a small area and does a very nice job.

Thanks Aixman just came in from out side, I checked the tators to make sure there were no washouts and everything is fine. My son was here using the welding machine to repair his jeep floor and seat frame. So Ive been out there supervising while he did the work. Now I think ill take it easy for a while.
