I have just harvested seeds from a gladiolus that is in my new yard. I don't know anything about the particular cultivator so I'd like to germinate a few seeds to see if they are viable. I wouldn't want to send anyone seeds that weren't going to produce nice plants.
Anyway, I've put a couple in a damp paper towel and stuck them in a kitchen cabinet in a ziploc bag full of air. Will this work? And if so about how long should it take before they sprout? Thank you for your help.

they will need about 1 month , and a half to germinate...keep them about 70° and they should be fine, was the seed "pod" completely ripe Mudpig? most likely so this time of year..GOOD LUCK!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back here. Yes the pods were entirely brown and had started to open before I harvested them. I lost a bunch of seeds the first year because I was to quick to harvest. So now I hold back.
Thankyou for telling me how long it should take. I can't wait to see if they sprout. I'm excited.
