Best Way to Preserve

I have several old papers I want to preserve. Anyone know the best way to do this? They are a telegram from the Air Force and a letter from Air Force in 1953. My uncle's plane went down and was never found. And I have a letter he wrote to his dad from Germany in 1945 and some other papers pertaining to him. These mean alot to me and I want to preserve them for Bub to have someday.

The key to preserving your paper documents is to keep them in an acid-free, humidity-controlled environment. Your paper documents need protection from a variety of elements which contribute to their deterioration--namely: light, heat, humidity, acids in papers, plastics, and adhesives, other objects, pollutants, and pests.

You can store and preserve your paper documents in a few different ways. You can organize and file your documents in acid-free folders, and keep them in an acid-free box. Or you could place your documents in archaically safe plastic sleeves and keep them in an album or binder. Another popular alternative is to encapsulate a document between two sheets of polyester film.

Regardless of how you choose to store your documents, NEVER STORE THEM IN AN ATTIC OR BASEMENT. Extreme temperature and humidity changes cause rapid deterioration. Store your items in a room that is comfortable to you, with stable temperature and humidity.

What is polyester film and where do you find it? I'd like to put them in some kind of clear page protector in a scrapbook for Bub. Where do you find the archaically safe plastic sleeve?

All of these items you can get at staples or other office supply store .. Just ask them for help they are usually great about it
Just tell them your trying to save an old document and I am sure they will take you right to them..
