Number of children living in poverty increases
The number of children living in poverty increased during the recent recession.
Census Bureau data from the American Community Survey shows in some eastern Kentucky counties, nearly half of the children live in poverty.
"Helping Ease Life's Poverty" charity director Monk Sanders does whatever he can to help needy families. He says more and more are falling below the poverty line.
"Around the area I help service, it's getting worse. It's getting more and more people added to the rolls," he said.
