Nutder email......... Asian Honey, Banned in Europe, Is Flooding U.S. Grocery Shelves FDA has the laws needed to keep adulterated honey off store shelves but does little, honey industry says. by Andrew Schneider | Aug 15, 2011 A third or more of all the honey consumed in the U.S. is likely to have been smuggled in from China and may be tainted with illegal antibiotics and heavy metals. A Food Safety News investigation has documented that millions of pounds of honey banned as unsafe in dozens of countries are being imported and sold here in record quantities. And the flow of Chinese honey continues despite assurances from the Food and Drug Administration and other federal officials that the hundreds of millions of pounds reaching store shelves were authentic and safe following the widespread arrests and convictions of major smugglers over the last two years. www.foodsafetynews.com/2011/08/honey-laundering/

Thankfully, we get our honey by the gallon from our best friends who have a friendship with an Amish family. Actually buying 2 gallons in the next week. Our friends said this batch is especially DELICIOUS. They inquired as to why that was, and their source said it was "blueberry honey." Sounds good to me!
Another good post Cavey!

Honey is expensive, all the more reason to get good honey for the money. I picked up a jar one day at sav-a-lot and read "origin China" and left it there. I buy local honey when I can find it.

Honey here is local, and very easy to find. No need to go to the store. We all have to watch out for foreign products.
