I'm interesting in learning more about organic gardening. This site looked interesting so here I am. ;D I am a transplant from sunny CA to the place Dorothy and Toto once lived. Guess what....there are no yellow brick roads. Plenty of red ones, but none that are yellow. Looking forward to learning more from all of the more experienced gardeners at the board. By the way..... I love smilies......

Wow!!! What a warm welcome. I appreciate all the welcomes, it is indeed a good place to be.
I believe there are brick roads in many of the cities in Kansas. I'm a few hours away from Wichita.
This year we planted tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, okra, snow-peas, green beans, zucchini, yellow squash, butternut squash, and Lakota squash.
We want to start an asparagus bed this year. Need to get in gear I guess.
Again, I really appreciate the warm welcome.

Sunnione, Thanks for the compliment, and You are very welcome... like I said, these pholks are the BEST there is...My Phavorite Phamily, pholks and phriends Yep, there's a lot of brick in Kansas ..you are correct, In haven't been inthat area for years though...we have one member..Songbird, who is near You... How big is your garden Sunni? and How did the Lakota squash turn out? We ordered seed one year from Seedsavers.org...they were HUGE and beautiful...then we ordered the next time from Bakers Creek...the squash was not colored or did it have the same markings...it was smaller...tasted the same, but just not near as purty..

We have two areas that we planted in. I'm not sure how large each area is. I will ask my fiance and let you know. One is larger than the other, does that help? Just being a smart a$$. I will post some pics later. The Lakota seeds were given to me by a co-worker. We had a lot of problems with squash bugs this year. I was able to only get one before the bugs killed the vine. I still have it. I haven't cooked it. It is very large and colorful. I read it is sweeter than pumpkin.
