Dad burn New chain saw took a crap the other day....seized up. I took it back to the dealer a few days ago and he called me on the horn to say the saw is seized and they will replace it, which is great, but I asked him how that could have happened, I was using the right mix that I use on all my 2cyl that use 50-1 and they were working fine. He tells me that wasn't the problem the saw just overheated. Seams that these new 2cyl saws run real lean and need a longer brake in period for one thing and he also told me to use only middle premium or premium gas instead of regular gas because of the additives in regular make the saw run hotter. Doesn't make sense to me but I have to listen to him in this case. OH the make of the saw is ECHO.

Just picked up my new saw, and I'm hoping this one stays in one piece I was told to use high octane gas only. That's a first for me

I know Keith can only use certain gas in his motorcycle .. something about burning too hot and wrecking the seals or something

I know Keith can only use certain gas in his motorcycle .. something about burning too hot and wrecking the seals or something You would think when they build these motors they would take into consideration the need for using regular octane gas but that would be to easy. They changed all auto engines to a overlapping valve system when they changed to unleaded gas. Aha who can figure.
