We must be averaging 20 degrees warmer than usual for this winter. Most of our lows are in the 20's and the highs are usually in the 30's to 40's. The ground DID freeze, but only for a while.
We have had a little rain but very little ice and only a few flakes of snow. It has not fallen below zero at ALL!
When I googled it, they blame it on the lack of high pressure over Greenland. Apparently Greenland is nicely cold but the pressure is not high enough to send the Northern cold down to where we are.
The higher air pressures over Greenland, *IF* they form, will send cold air our way but so far they have not formed. And, winter for us is usually over some time in April, and since high pressure in Greenland has to form FIRST I am wondering if we will get any real winter at all!!!!!!!!!!
You understand, I am not complaining. I still have a few frost-damaged vegetables in the solar greenhouse that are good eating, and the warm temps meant that I could plant frost hardy things like carrots earlier. It is just WIERD, is all!!!!!!!!

Same for Tennessee, we don't know if we're gonna get ANY winter or just a late one. Groundhog day is next thur, so maybe that will tell the tale.

Ditto Minni-soder typically and quite appropriately called Minny --SNOwDA has been unusually..even freakishly warm..and way to dry... what little snow we received will be gone today...tomorrow at the latest...the snow that has already melted (folks we can measure the snow amount with yer index finger this year) left behind DRY..dirt, not frozen..not muddy..dry dirt 41° is predicted today...high 30's and 40's all week... those temps here though will probably be all 40+ days... I'm fearing that the garlic will wake up Mo I got my eye on the resident Groundhog...ifin it's sunny here...his lil head best not pop out

Same down here in Texas. Supposed to get up to 70° F tomorrow. Then possible more rain on Wednesday. That last rain we received, made the lake go up by 5 feet. Maybe that will keep us out of stage 4 water restrictions.

I live in SW KS. Yes overall we have had a mild winter. But we have had a couple of doses of winter. We had one night below zero and 2-3 others in single digits during one stretch in December. Then we had 15 inches of snow along with high winds the Monday before Christmas. Areas were covered the first 3 weeks of Jan.. Since then things have been clear and overall temps above seasonal. This week has been more seasonal. Many are starting things early. I may push a few things but overall will wait. I know full well even if it stays mild we can see a freeze in April or even early May. Anything I put out early will have some protection. Jay

The revised forecast for this weekend 19 and 20 for lows. I'd rather have some kinda winter in Feb than wait till April.
