I searched and found this Boo ? Perhaps ?
Several conditions can cause tomatoes to not set fruit. Too much nitrogen fertilizer, nighttime temperatures over 70 degrees F., low temperatures below 50 degrees F., irregular watering, insects such as thrips or planting the wrong variety may result in poor fruit set. Any of these conditions can cause poor fruit set, but combinations can cause failures. If Extension recommended varieties are used , the main reason tomato plants do not set fruit is because they are not planted where they can receive 8-10 hours of direct sunlight daily. Any less direct sunlight will result in a spindly growing, nonproductive plant with healthy foliage.
Which I know the latter is not the problem ..

Here is another I strolled across
There could be several reasons why your tomatoes aren't setting fruit, and one of the likeliest is heat. Tomatoes balk at turning flowers into fruits when temperatures get above 85 degrees. Once the weather moderates and temperatures ease a little, you should be seeing new flowers form, and those should turn to fruit.
Other possibilities for blossom drop are too much fertilizer and dry soil. Make sure your tomatoes get a good inch or two of water a week, preferably in the form of long deep soaks at the root level (try not to wet the foliage, especially in the evening).
Still another reason for blossom drop are nighttime temperatures below 55 degrees F, a likely cause for a late-season crop.
Next year, you may want to time your tomato planting so that flowers form well before the peak of your heat season. The other choice is to choose heat-tolerant varieties

what can i do to help my maters grow, plants are big and healthy but what maters are there are golfball size and already turning red---should be a lot bigger We usually have tomatoes...GALORE...Large, but seemingly forever green...then they slowly ripen...so this is a problem I have not had.. first, are all the varieties you planted doing this Boo? the plants you listed: Early girl; a smaller variety...2-2-1/2 inches dia. ripe fruit is about the size and shape of a tennis ball -- weighs 4 to 8 ounces 2 better boy...now that's a large variety... 2 florida 91...Determinate variety...10 ounce tops or so... Climatic issues, What's your weather been Boo? Dry/wet? drought, lack of water restricted or disturbed root system/limited soil for roots to grow.... are they good mators, or are they splitting? too much rain/water... Now yer determinate Florida91 will set most it's crop at once, but with the others, they may set a few small fruit...at first...

dry and lack of water, well keeps running dry probably most of the problem Boo... God help Us if our well goes dry Thats tough Bro, I always have said that the only thing better than hearing your well pump run..is hearing it shut off.. Mulch, use anything to cover the ground to about 4 inches Boo...to conserve moisture and give them an even watering... wet..then dry isn't good on plant...or gardener...be careful out there Boo
