Pholks, since our garden and property adjoins a farmers field...we always are HAPPY...when their crop is corn for the year... This season...was suppose to be Corn..on corn... late planting; due to wet weather... Chnaged their crop to soy beans...So... Yesterday morning...after listening to the PLANTER all night long...I checked the field...sure enuff...they planted beans... Now, Our deal is the winds out here...most any day it is 5-10 mph. typically, every week we have at least one day with 30-45 mph. winds whipping across the field to the south...not good for our garden... So, yesterday Morning ..WITH RAIN less than 30 miles to our west...And headed OUR WAY I said goodbye to Laura...changed my shoes and grabbed the tiller... Tilled up enuff area to plant 5...rows of corn all along the south edge of the garden on the side adjoining the bean field.. that was 90 foot long on the east edge, 80 foot long on the west edge It started raining after I had 50ft. of the 90ft. planted...light rain...I pushed on...got another 20 feet planted so, 70 ft. planted x 5 rows...350 ft. of corn... another 100 foot to go...so we will end up with 875 feet total. So, SWEETCORN...for SALE will definitely be one of the signs seen here this year... I tossed in a lil "Visual Aid" thingy here...jus cause it's Phun

Hay Phil, that 'Mr Wind, on your 'Visual Aid', I feel it applies to me quite a bit lately. But not 2-day. Nice slow, soaking rain. Held off long enough for me to turn one compost bin.

And we have wind BUT we also got rain. 3". I went out early this morning. Birds singing, and I could hear all the trees and grass sighing with relief. Life is good. CF

aside from lookin' a little ugly, I was wonderin' if one of those orange plastic snow drift fences would help at all? just a thought. I've never had to deal with wind like that. Wish I was in the area come harvest time. I'd buy some corn off ya fir sure!

I'm like the other Wendy, no working the garden yet cuz we've had weeks of rain and only a couple of days here and there with Sunshine. Can't work a swamp.
I'm Green with Envy, Phil and Laura. Wish I were planting right along with You. Hope this year is your Best Garden Yet!

Our wind season is almost finished: sooner or later the jet stream will go north of us, and at that time it will be hot and humid but the wind and the tornados will STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have had tornados in our area every day for the last few days: when the weather clears up this Sunday I hope that we get a break from the storms and the tornados. I spent an hour sitting in the hallway at my Son's doctor yesterday: NOT fun! I cannot complain because we have not personally been hit at ALL, but I will be glad when the jet stream goes north..... even though that means you Northeners get it!
