A couple years ago, we stopped gardening out at our friend's property (they have lots of land) and decided to focus our efforts on our tiny city plot. Thought I'd share a few pics from this morning. Here are the 2 raised beds I put in 2 years ago. Mostly maters (Balls Beefsteak, and Roma) along with a couple broccoli plants. Everything is pretty tight, but looking real good so far. It's shady early in the morning, but then gets good sun after that. Here are my 2 Brandywine tomatoes along side the house. We also have about 4 grape tomatoes along that side as well. Here's one of 2 surviving broccoli plants (thanks to those pesky squirrels!!!!) It's got a touch of bug damage, but seems to be doing well otherwise. And our next door neighbors don't use their backyard for anything, so we have a deal - I mow their lawn (which takes all of a few minutes) and I get to have a veggie garden! Lots of bush beans, a few assorted maters in between a couple rows, 1/3 row of acorn squash, 1/3 row of cukes, and the rest of that partial row is bush beans.

Looking great, your soil sure looks good. No wonder the plants look good. Nice. CF Thanks everyone! Thanks CF! - yeah, we've actually got pretty sandy soil here by the West MI lakeshore. I've added lot's of leaves, peat, compost, and grass clippings to get what we've got so far. I hope to improve that even further as the years go on.

Looks really good. I hope you can continue to use it for some time, after all the soil-building.

You keep it really clean. Really like your raised beds with the white fence. So quaint. I'm going to steal your idea for next year.

Thanks best Those lil plastic pickets were actually more out of necessity. We've got an energetic dog who sometimes goes on a "running frenzy." Those pickets help detour her from trampling thru the beds. That dog is such a turkey!
