We're glad ya'll like the photos. We sure enjoy taking them. Ya'll would not believe some of the sites we see with these magnificent birds. Not only do we get great oportunities for photos, we get once in a lifetime memories as well. Every moment of observing these creatures only happens once!

Those are great shots. There is a man made lake nearby and we occasionally see a pair of them while walking the dividers between ponds. It's pretty rare and raises the hair on the back of my neck. It surprises me how big they really are. I would love to do a painting of them roosting on a foggy morning. I think you posted a pic like that a while back. We should talk.

Well it looks like pharmer Phil is going to put up a board just for photography! We will probably be the first to load it up! Glad ya'll enjoy the photos. I just took a mere 265 more this morning! Oh yea, as for the camera, it's a Canon Rebel XTi digital. We have a 18-50mm lens and a 73-300mm we use for the eagles. Someday Santa will bring use a 500mm!

Den you better be a really good boy! I'd never seen a live Eagle until I moved here to be with da Axeman! I couldn't believe how big they are! We have so many photos dat we are having to download them onto disc. They are so beautiful and to think that Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey for our national bird! So enjoy people! On the weekends da Axeman and I are always sitting down by the river!

I had to post about this-
I had seen this thread and keep coming back to look at the pics. Well, I turn on PBS to let Mackenna watch some of her "shows" and Reading Rainbow was doing a segment on raising baby bald eag0les in captivity..... I thought it was a neat coincidence.....

This is a weekend passion with us. Soon the Eagles will be traveling back up North. We will miss them. But there are lots of other wildlife here to photograph. Looking forward to the Hummingbirds. Last summer I saw my first Moth Hummingbird!

but you'll have other birds n wildlife to take pics of do you have falcons? thoses are nice lookin birds.

Post by Axeman on Mar 16, 2008 6:52:21 GMT -6
Nope, no falcons around here that I know of. We have been shooting photos of the migrating pelicans, herons, geese, ducks & deer. I got a couple of shots of a fox a couple of weeks ago but he was the proverbial "sly one'. He stayed well camoflaged in the tall grasses & brush.

Well pholks, the 2008 - 2009 eagle season has begun. We've been seeing a few lately and I took some of the seasons first shots last week. Nothing spectacular as of yet. Getting great shots can be a challenge. It's not like eagles will pose for ya. Still we're excited about the upcoming season. Maybe I'll get a web store going this year so ya'll can see more of the awsome photos we have. Good shooting everyone.
