Today Ruth and I went out and started splitting wood by hand....I do have a log splitter but decided to do some by hand, I am out of shape for that task and after an hour and a half I said we need to quit now before I'm not able to move tomorrow. Tomorrow I'm getting that log splitter out and letting it do all the work  Ill sleep good tonight  no need to  |

I know!! Dave used to do all the splitin also .. Then we got the splitter workin!! Seems it is alot of work to, but is a lil easier , I often tease Dave because I run the handle , I say me running the handle is actually more work for him , cuz it goes faster...

I haven't split any wood in 20 years...since I moved here...I split wood every week for hours..all my life except the last 20...
I can say, I LOVE it...and want to go split a truck load...
In reality...I'd tucker out about half way through these days..
seems the "fun" has left many of the things I enjoyed as a youth..
I would take me chain saw, splitting maul (I should say for all but the last 18 years that I cut firewood, I split with ONLY a double bit axe) Rifle and a lsnack & a little water...and spend the day

We split wood to save on heating bills in the winter and I wish it would produce electric because our electric bill was $238.00 this month that's because the dumb azz read the meter wrong last month and charged us $49.00   We have so much wood after the storm that we will be stockpiling most of the spring....I'm not complaining though we can us it for next season. Like you Phil this is no longer a labor of love, it's a necessity to save money for us. |

;DLog splitter is running and we split about 1-1/2 cord of wood. Just came in to get a bite, that dang thing started right up after putting some fresh gas in it. We haden't started that thing for two years. I did run the carb. dry and shut the gas off and added some sea foam, I do believe that helped.
