I have heard of the tater thang...I also heard to put one in your deep fry grease to remove fish odor Hmmmm.....never heard that one. Phil and Laura, ate that horseradish with a rare roast and on roast beef sandwhich with mayo/HR,very good. How do you make it Mrs asks? Bro/ Mrs. Spuds... it's easy (but not on yer eyes) side note: there's all kinds of things you could add, some add mayo, some add sour cream..some add salt...some boys down south add Indian Turnip...but that makes it even hotter...and I think destroys the horseradish flavor..IMO Dig the roots..scrub and peel (we use a tator peeler) Then we run them thru the food processor using the grate blade.. then..add to bowl Non- Reactive bowl WITH COVERcontinue till all is grated.. HORSERADISH MUST SIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES IN BOWL !!! adding anything sooner takes away from da flavor/heat!!
Then, with the regular blade in the processor.. we fill it back up after 10...and turn it on low..adding white vinegar in small amounts...until you get your desired consistency stick in in jars and refrigerate..(some say it's not needed) THINGS TO REMEMBER:Don't think you can LOOK into the processor without going TEMPORARILY BLINDDon't BREATH THE VAPORS...think..MUSTARD GAS... upside ifin ya been congested.... I could send some crowns out either early spring or fall...

I know you and Flosie would be more then happy to share. We had a unexpected day yesterday, a few of our friends and Ruth's sister came over for a visit,so we spent most of the day talking and enjoying one another. Later last night we had stuffed Lobster tail with crab meat stuffing. I made some Octopus salad with lots of garlic, evoo, lemon juice, and parsley, that is something Ruth doesn't like but I love it. And apple pie with vanilla Ice cream for desert.

Octopus salad......man that sounds great........i fell in love with octo the first time i ever had it. Went to Anthony and Karen yesterday to visit with the grand children and exchange gifts. After that we ate more food then I can mention except for THE GREATEST!!! Prime rib that I have ever ate in my life...Anthony had marinated it and then seasoned it again before putting it in the oven did it on 500° for 30 minutes then turned it down to 350° and finished it. That baby was perfect nice crust on the outside and rare in the center. I tell ya that son of mine can cook, must have gotten it from me 2706 . We had a great evening and then brought our grand daughter home with us for the day.

Dang! Thats cold Phil!! We are actually starting to warm up here a bit. Of course you know Jan is not here yet. We had Surf and Turf last night at a friends. Dave got me some King Crab Legs for Christmas So we went to a buddys house , and had Surf and Turf nothing like a good ol steak, crab legs and and boiled red potatoes We went fishing also I didn't catch anything but the guys did earlier. Dang it! But we got there a lil late. It's ok I have my fishing license now. Venison Jerky Yumm!! Should be making some soon! Got some venison from a friend before Christmas. We put it in the freezer because we just didn't have time to jerk it up. so it is still waiting. DAve cooked up some rabbit the other day. I couldn't eat it because he put cream of chicken soup on it pffttt !

Making a big batch of Broccoli soup today and tomorrow it's potato soup. Making big batches for canning,That should put us in good shape for the rest of the winter. We had some more of the beef stew we caned two weeks ago, and it just amazes me that it is as good as the day we made it...reason I'm saying that is because of the process time 75 minutes, I thought the vegetables and taters would be mush.....not the case they were as solid as the day we cooked it. I miss stated about the venison jerky, it's actually venison slim Jim. My bad!

I don't know... I guess I'd try a bit before I'd say anything ..... Sounds good to me! I think a lot of people miss out on good food just because it doesn't look appetizing enough,or they don't like the smell, and most important you have to know how to season food as well as how to prepare it. I love venison, but I have had it were it wasn't seasoned or cooked properly and it wasn't very tasty at all, that can turn people off to something right away. I try to experiment with recipes to make food more palatable for my taste some times, or Ruth will tell me she would like something added or cooked differently...no big deal. First time I told Ruth I was cooking grits, she said not for me I hate that stuff I had it when I lived in Tennessee it was offal. Well I made it with cheese and garlic powder salt and pepper, served a little to her and said just try it. She did and we have it almost every morning....and she is the one who is making it now. I could go on about a lot of dishes that I make that Ruth said she didn't like and now she eats them, because I know how to prepare them....that is bragging. It's fact because I'm not afraid of cooking,I love to cook,it just comes natural, and if I'm not sure about something Ill find several recipes and make it my own.

Yes Jc and Spuds, I usually don't care what it is if it is offered I always try it! You never know what you will like or dis like if you don't at least try it! I have a friend that says she doesn't like mushrooms and she has never had one before !!! I am like how can you say you don't like them if you have never had one? She doesn't like the thought of eating one is the thing! I was taught not to be rude! So when I went to someones house eat whats put in front of you! Don't make nasty faces , don't say ewweee I don't like this! Just eat it and say thank you. So thru life the only thing I truly do not like is wet bread, only because I was forced to eat it. I get tired of certain foods and will skip eating them for a while but for the most part I will eat just about anything. Well if it's not got Gluten or Corn only because I cannot eat that any longer. I love deer meat fish ,seafood everything I have tried that has came out of the Ocean or Lake I have liked so far! I even ate Turtle I thought it would taste like pond water but it was good! More like chicken. I have had frog I liked it. So I am up for just about anything I say just about because mu husband goes to bull nut roast's and I kinda draw that line. I did taste them and they were "OK" but it's a man thing lol He can have em

Just finished a big batch of cream of Broccoli and potato soup, very tasty. I used leaks, garlic, onion, celery, and light cream. With my pure...motor boat I liquified the batch. Added some broccoli florets and served with croutons. Oops almost forgot I added cheddar cheese at the end and melted it into the mixture.

I'm not a picky eater but I don't like garlic. If I can smell the garlic I can't eat it. For one thing I think a lot of garlic in it takes away the flavor of the main ingredient.
Tonight we had chicken soup with a little added rice, a few potatoes, carrots, kale, parsley, with rolls and a pickle.

When I moved here 10 years ago I never cared for garlic or onions or tomatoes..nor was I a competitive person. Now I eat garlic cloves raw if I have troubles with a sore throat or feeling poorly. Colds..etc..etc.. As for onions..the only way I eat them raw is with liverwurst..tomatoes..I eat them off the plants..
