My eggplant seedlings are kinda leggy. Can I bury them like I do to tomatoes or will they just rot? Theyre about 1 1/2 inches tall.

Treat them exactly like you would a tomato, right down to the watering and feeding schedules. When I lived in Zone 4b, I planted them outdoors in large black plastic containers for optimum sun and heat. Otherwise, I couldn't get them to produce fruit.

Transplant them in larger pots like from 1" to 2" tray cells and feed them with a low concentration of fish formula or compost tea 1-1-1 to promote root growth. Eggplant when grown on heat mats or under grow lights can get leggy. If the weather is warm were you are try puting them out at the warmest part of the day or in a cold frame for a few hours a day. You should be transplanting you seedlings after they have true leaves anyway. Eggplants are not like tomatoes as far as starting new roots from the main stem so you shoul not plant them the same.

Today had a high of 35* with a wind chill of about 10* cooler I'll keep babying them and see how it goes.
