Well some are bells but with some I would like to try different things like jalapeno jelly which I have tried before and is good. Hot peppers are a big thing here you can even buy manzano peppers at the local store along with other popular hot peppers.Trust me you will never find some of the peppers in the store say in Ohio you could find here.

Yes I do know that you have to grow your own from seed to get the better verities. Makes for much better taste, and when you smoke some of them they are even better.

But what amazes me is the stores here have a wide selection of chili peppers you do not normally see in Ohio or Michigan. This is especially true Texas chain store HEB such a nice selection is a foodies dream if you really like them. When I first went to HEB I grabbed a few each of manzano,Thai ,Serrano,Jalapeno,Habanero,Pablano. There where others but didn't want to go over board. The Manzano was really good in different things just gotta use lightly like Habanero.

Yes it seams to hold true for what ever reagent you are in,Texas uses a lot of hot foods in there cooking as I'm sure you are aware of,like Tex Mex. I love a lot of spicy foods but it really isn't the norm for NJ cuisine. I would be considered a food nut...but we very seldom eat out, and I am always experimenting with different dishes. I like smoking my own peppers also.

We will have plenty of hotties here..we find that we have a pretty good following for them at the farmers market. Plus we enjoy them. I make a caramel that I call " hot chocolate "..I have a gal who wants 12 more of them..she will let some of her friends try them..they tried the candy her & hubby & loved them!! I can make the candy hot..or super hot..or kinda hot..

Looks like everyone is going to have lots of peppers this year. Peppers are one of the easiest crops to grow, and yield a ton of fruit for one thing, and like Tomato they work well with almost everything. For me I have always had the best results starting peppers from seed and transplanting. Tomatoes on the other hand have been a different story especially Heirlooms, they are to susceptible to viruses, for me I have to get started plants from a reputable supplier.

Looks like things are progressing well Kevin you should have plenty of peppers this season. With all the snow and cold we have been having this winter I just can't seam to get motivated to get started. Abe has started some seed in his green house so I'm relying on him so far, I have to get shaking on peppers soon.
