I have never lived in the north so I can't imagine. Move down here with me. I'll be nice. Well maybe. Guess I shouldn't promise that. It was 68 here yesterday and is 39 now at 10:00 AM. Supposed to be 70 tomorrow with 60% chance of rain and we have 60% chance of rain until Next Thursday. Not this Thursday but NEXT Thursday. My wood fence in the yard is turning green. Sure hope we get a little rain after I plant my garden.

I went out with Ruth and finished plowing the driveway and the barn area as well as paths for the wood shed. Got finished around 3:00PM, then I went over to my neighbors house to check on him because he said he needed some help straightening his back bumper. Seams he backed into a block wall when he was plowing snow. We got the backhoe out and used it to pull the bumper back good enough for now.
Getting ready for the next storm,I just hope it isn't what they were saying in the beginning of the week for Sunday and Monday. Tomorrow we are expecting snow sleet and then rain that's why I wanted to get the driveway pushed back. That little John Deere did some work today.
Ralph I tried calling you until 7:30 tonight after I got your message, I kept getting a busy signal. I'm headed to the sack, tomorrow may be a busy day.

My sister in WV is iced in. She works at the VA and she said the highway, not sure which highway, is closed and she can't get to work. Must be really bad cuz she never misses work due to weather.
Hoping everyone is ok in this strange weather.
Raining here. Story of my life.

It's 37° now but it's supposed to drop down to 18° tonight, that's going to make it real interesting for road travel. Glad we don't have anywhere to go. The Spruces Bows are hanging to the ground with all the wet snow on them, they look pretty but it puts a lot of stress on them.

I know what your roads are like (Skating Rink) with rain on top it is horrid! I feel your pain! Actually the roads are clear hear, this town is quick to get out and clear the snow,we have 60 square miles of roads and it's usually cleared in 26 hours. Snow removal has never been a problem here. My driveway is the problem for me because it is over 200' going back to our barns and with clearing behind the house and paths that need to be plowed we are talking another 150', it can get intense at times trying to find places to pile the snow. Looks like we have escaped the real bad storm they were predicting for us this weekend, instead we are getting a few inches in the next few days...few am I glad of that. All the snow that is left around has frozen like concrete,so it's a good thing I had pushed everything back or else we would be in a real mess.

jersey, what is your town if you're not in the witness protection program and can tell us?
Will all you snow bunnies end up flooded out when the temp rises? Have any of you ever thought of moving where the snow clouds don't gather? Or would they just follow you where ever you go because in your previous life you disturbed the sacred Indian burial ground?

18ºF today and 3ºF tonight wind will blow and it will be cccccold way below 0 pffttt into the weekend! Ughhh Hope Sunday will be nice! I am getting cabin fever! I want to go North! I know it will be colder up there but we do have a fireplace and it is cozy But we also don't want to get stuck up there either. Been there done that lol. We flood or I say our basement does depending on how fast we thaw. If it is slowly and the ground thaws also then we will be ok. But if it gets up to 60º one day and all this snow melts our creek will over flow then into the basement it goes. So jopefully when we do thaw It will be slowly!

Funny you should mention me being under witness protection . No I'm one of the good guys not good fellows. I live in the central part of the state of NJ Monmouth County in a town called Howell Twp. That is 5 miles north of the county seat Freehold, where I was born and raised until I went into the service in 1963. The weather here is not as severe as it is where Phil or W8in live,we really don't get snow that accumulates in feet or the sub 0 temps normally. This has been an unusual winter for us with temperatures holding in the teens and single digits. We don't have to worry about snow melt and flooding of any large scale here either. This is really a very nice part of the state if the property taxes weren't out of sight. So that tells you were I'm from and now everyone in the world can find me! OH, As far as moving and bringing the snow and cold with us, that is a possibility. Just look at the weather they are having in Atlanta...My daughter just moved there in November. And my oldest Daughter has been living in NC for 5 years now.

Snow but nice and sunny. Love your camera set up.
Atlanta did have a mess. That happens in Atlanta once in a while.
I've never lived in the north. My dad was in the Army and we lived a lot of places, I went to 17 different schools, but either in Europe parts of the US other than the north.

Weather man is saying we may be getting a significant snow storm Wednesday night into Thursday this week. The temperatures are supposed to be on the rise around that time so it's pretty iffy. I think it's another false alarm...them just crying wolf as usual.

It was 12° this morning and it's now 19° that's supposed to be the high, tonight it's going down to 7°. This is not normal for this part of the country especially continuously cold like it has been, yes we had a day here and there at 40° but it's been in the low 20s and teens for the better part of January and so far February. This is one cold azz winter for us.

The sun is out here today but its cold, currently -22 with wind chill, so it doesn't seem so bad with the sun.
For as much as I hate the winter right now, I couldn't imagine living somewhere where I didn't have snow for a few months. I guess its all in how you grew up, but I do think I would miss the snow, especially when it came to decorating for the holidays.

The key in what you say is,it how you grow up. What is natural to one of us doesn't apply to all.I think it is how we deal with it also.I look at it as work because I'm to crippled up to play in it anymore, and it not as much the snow as it is the cold.

You are kinda right Jc, I was born and raised in S. California. Come out here when I was 17 years old. Been back once. I used to say (when I was young lol) 1st chance I get I am going back. Now I wouldn't go back if I had 100 chances. Yes the weather is nice there. But I built a family here and would never leave them for weather. I think you adapt to whats around you. It has been bitter cold this year tomorrow it will be 30ºF out when that 30º hits us we will think it feels warm. I see sweat shirt material coming out! Next week it will be in the 40's the guys will be out in their long sleeve t shirts cutting wood. But come spring 30 will be cold 20 will be cold because we have adjusted to hot humid weather of summer. I think I adjusted to winters here pretty good because I was around people who have lived here their whole life. So I learned how to adjust. I don't know if that makes any sense to you or not. But It makes sense to me LOL

I know this is nothing to you guys but it's terrible for us. The only reason I took this picture is because there is a 4 lane highway across the fence that you can't even see. It's covered with snow. This is my front yard. This will shut us down for a while.

It's not pretty here we are getting hit with a NE storm,as I was writing the power went off for a second,so I'm trying this again. We are looking at about 8 or 10 inches and it's still snowing, weather man says it's supposed to change to rain this afternoon and then back to snow before ending tonight. I'm hoping it doesn't cause power outages.
