we don't always peel tators..like "dirty mashed tators" carrots..never... Like when we were kids..dirts good fer Ya... Try this, scrub tater, vertical slices, paint with olive oil all over and between slices and bake in oven or BBQ,man are they good! I paint em once or twice more as they cook.Kinda like a cross between a baked tater and a potato chip, and they cook faster too.Pretty much how I do em all now.Healthy too (Pretty much)! Good pics at link.... www.instructables.com/id/sliced-baked-potato/I have done this before! It's kinda hard to slice so thin but I was able to do it! Maby I will do it again! It's good with cheese and stuff on top.

W8, when I do hasselback potatoes. Cutting done easy, lay a chopstick on each side of potato. Keeps you from having to watch about cutting all the way through. Your's looks so good. I do like the thin cut. Nice. CF

If I'm eating home grown potatoes or carrots I don't peel them either. I use my crock pot once in a while. I'll try that potato idea spuds.

My george forman grill sat on my shelf for a good long time, I hated cleaning it. Then my dd graduated from the blind school (she is legally blind, not totally blind) and she started using it to cook her sausage links and hot dogs on. I don't allow her to use the stove top (she seems to only want to cook on hi heat), but she needed to learn how to cook simple meals for herself.
She is learning how to use an electric skillet to cook with. I have a collection of electrical gadgets for her to become more self sufficient. I still had to clean up the GF grill behind her even after she "cleaned" it, but I didn't mind this knowing she was on her way to being able to cook for herself even if it was simple foods. She will always need supervision, but at least she won't have to completely depend on others in the cooking area of her life.
I suppose the next gadget would be the Rotisserie cooker, now that is a pain to clean, even dd would have trouble with cooking and cleaning this.

Ohhhh Boy I collect useless kitchen gadgets I think My loch ness monster ladle is pretty useless its bends when you try to get a scoop .. if its something hot forget about it .. I have it because I thought the kids would get a kick out of it .. they love it .. melon baller .. Tried to use it once .. there it sits .. I never had a george forman grill or anything like that .. I use cast iron .. it cleans up fast and you don't need much oil to cook with .. But I can totally see the issue with them .. Mini food chopper .. so not worth it .. the food always goes down the center whole and makes a bigger mess than just using a blender! citrus zester .. its much easier to use a cheese grater On the other hand .. I do have a ricer .. I love to use it to get the seeds out when I do jam but that's not often . I have 2 crock pots .. Quite handy .. we use it a lot especially for parties . made a batch of meatballs for subs last week .. pulled pork I use it a lot for making shredded chicken too.. This time of year I like to use one for gravy and the other for ham .. Garlic Press .. LOVE IT .. I use a lot of garlic .. use it probably 3-5 times a week .. I honestly couldn't tell you how many gadgets I have had that made a triple flip into the trash .. but there is a lot of crap out there ..
