Phil-If you want a "deep woods hunting experience" yah, go north. If you want tasty meat on the table you are better off here. We have a lot more deer per square mile than the north woods and they grow bigger and faster(all those corn fields), they eat better and are better eating.

Never made it to Albert Lea, but attended the fathers Day Rendezvous at Prairie du Chen for many, many years......starting back in the 1970's.... Slowed down on that as well, pic in avatar is form Friendship, WI, Pinery Road Days....a few years back. Mostly just do the local event in Kenosha, Wi, and set up for the Archeological Society. Had heart surgery last winter, and kinda working my way back a bit......

Hunting is something I've never done. I'm not a veggie so I dont see anything wrong with it I just couldn't shoot another living thing. Not even a rabbit. I've never been fishing but would love to go someday. Can you catch fish in Kickapoo river? Emma x x Older I get, less interest I have in killing anything.

Yeah, I hear ya....kinda the same thing with me.....killed a lots of food over the years...and know where it comes from, and what has to happen to eat meat.... So yeah, slowed down a lot. Slowed down on the garden as well......just DW and I...hurting from by-pass surgery, so just kinda kept the garden tolled and green manure. We will see next spring.

How long on the post surg? Since last December.....but has been slow going....seems like I still get really tired and most any kind of lifting is hard on the chest. I guess it isn't like rebuilding a motor..... Doc says easy on the big guns...... gonna go see him here in a month or so and see if my warranty is being renewed. Season here is over.....may hunt Louisiana yet, later this year.......with DD and SIL

Doc says easy on the big guns...... gonna go see him here in a month or so and see if my warranty is being renewed. Met an older fella at the gun range.A collector.Had several shoulder surg's and couldnt shoot big guns anymore. Was there with a classic, very rare, very expensive .22,told this story before.Let Mrs (old sure shot) shoot it with original shells ( the guys are ALWAYS handing Mrs their favorite guns to shoot, they get a big kick out of a woman shooter, rare as hens teeth I reckon)He said he was old, dying and damned if he wasnt going to get some joy out of it before he went.Said he didnt care if it hurt the value or not.Good on him. Super treat for Mrs,very generous for sure.Lots of Karma points for him.Oh,it was a slide pump action and was smooth as silk, couldnt believe the quality,Its true they dont make em like they used to.

Wellcome Huter63
We slow down as we get older that is for sure. It does take time to get well when older.
