no, I have not tried this; However, I did think about the possibility before for this same purpose... Many things we use every day is recycled from baby diapers..and many new products are being added everyday... the absorbent pad...is separated and discarded.. The last company I worked for was one such manufacturer New technology is now making the pad recyclable

When I worked for the City Horticulture I was able to experiment freely under my then boss, and as I was trying to figure out a way to help the baskets and boxes which basically sat on asphalt and concrete not dry out during the hot part of the day I did do this, but I didn't remove the filling, I laid the diaper out then placed the media/soil on top. I had great results doing this. I didn't have time to take it out of the diaper and let it absorb first. This was a quick fix for me at the time.
