My older son winters over arugula in small A frame with plastic over it. So has greens late and early. I would think lettuces and other greens would. He makes salad. He is on a town lot. I know lettuce will seed it self down and come up early. He pick off leaves small for salad,

oh...wanted to add...Never, or since I've lived here, have we had dry-thawed soil in March...But, we are planting some lettuce and radishes...will cover them with frost blanket over pvc hoops...the frost blanket is suppose to protect down to 25°...what the heck...a couple bucks worth of seed! We have one greenhouse up...and full of onions

They say sheet a will protect better than plastic. the only bad thing is with plastic...if the plastic touches a plants leaves..it will still get frosted...and, plastic needs to be vented..it gets really hot inside...cloth does well ifin the temps outside are not too cold..the frost blanket is spun polyester, like floating row cover, only much thicker.. whatever it takes, and whatever you have..is always the best

One of the garden show guys said as long as you keep frost off plants they'll be ok because it's not the cold that hurts them. If that's true I guess anything could be floated over them.
I grew lettuce in my pretend greenhouse during the winter a few years.
Not a fan of arugula either.

Frost is over by end of May they say here. Cool weather crops can go in sooner. Too hot to plant cool weather crops end of May. If it snows and probably will, I could toss a cover them.

It's just too cool and windy and damp to do anything. I can't get motivated.
