Friday morning I went to go outside..opened the screen door and right there, under the hanging broom.....where our outdoor cats sometimes sleep is this So, I tried a closer shot by kneeling down....and he TRIED TO GET INSIDE!!!it was lethargic, stumbling, ..exhibited all the signs of rabies.... and had CRAPPED a big pile of green GOO on the porch..which he then ate scared him off by PUSHING him across gravel road..figured he'd leave..Yesterday..he was curled up out next to the kitties house...acting really bizarre...for all our cats and our health...did the one thing I hated to do..but knew it had to be done Had to dispatch him so add a coon to the Skunk and badger that I found..just on the other side of our backdoor..Oh life on da Pharm

Dang Phil, I bet that was somebody's pet. If it was he should of gone home. I saw on the local news that a town just north of us had killed 3 squirrel in a park that had tested positive for rabies. Never heard if that before.CF

Yer right Cavey and Spuds......I don't even understand how it made it back up the ditch (about 25 yards),back across the gravel road, across the yard to where we found it again..(all in all about 300 yards ..when I "ushered" it across the road...it would fall when I pushed it with the broom..it tried to climb a tree and fell off about two foot up it... When it comes to it..all I could do was either call the vets office ..and he'd send a law man out to shoot it..or do it myself.. they are real stern here about rabies..

Never heard if that before.CF I suppose squirrels are as susceptible as any critter, but like Cavey said I ain't heard tell of it. You just never know..we have lots of coons around here..the empty house up the road a piece has all these trashy old out buildings that I have checked out..they are filled with coon We did have a "Night time stopper" vehicle out on the gravel the night before the coon incident.. Typically, after a "Night time stopper" we end up with a new CAT...pholks seem to like dropping animals off out here squint and I told Laura that for all we know, it may have slept out there with the cats at night..I would like to have one of those trail cams to see just hat goes on out here at night. we are keeping an eye on the outdoor kitties, they all look phat and sassy for now

I have never heard of squirrels having rabies either. Just heard it on the news. But you know how the news is. Guess I need to look that one up. CF Update, squirrels don't have rabies but, they can. Very few cases have been reported. Now again this is the internet talking. So we all know what that means. CF

That was a new one for me too, squirrels with rabies....glad your watching the critters closely Phil, you never know! I don't see a lot of coons around my house, but we are over run with coyotes though, in fact a few weeks ago it was all over the news of a report of a coyote in my town, and turns out that it was a dog (someone's pet) that was 21, deaf and blind, got out of their back yard during a wind storm here and the cops ran her over to "deal" with her shake, 3 times!!!! Oh and he then had to shoot her because Merrick still wasn't dead Turns out that it was a neighbor about 8 houses down my street that she belonged too shake Here`s a link to the story about Merrick....I`ll WARN you now, it does show the police car running her over, it was 10:30 at night and the video was shot at a distance. This all happened within a few blocks of my house. www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCQQFjACahUKEwi-srHQzZfJAhUH1R4KHUZkCUk&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.citynews.ca%2F2015%2F10%2F20%2Fowner-speaks-dog-killed-opp-collingwood%2F&usg=AFQjCNEA8xODYXJSJ8_fSQoJmADL7ERtxw

Stupidity knows no bounds. My wife had an old doberman, she could barely walk, pee'd on herself, and was half blind.Lived in a doghouse in back yard.Insurance company heard she had a DOBERMAN and canceled her homeowner insurance.'Killer' dog died about a month later.MORONS!!

Yup,had some morons stop in a car,and fighting it out in street. When out with my camera and told em we were calling cops, they decided not to stick around and be filmed.LAST thing I would do is call cops, and told em I didnt want cops here, but I'll call if I have to.They didnt want cops either.I figured they are as likely to shoot me or my dogs as the perps.I call now ONLY if life and death,or accident in street, that sorta thing.I'll deal with idiot morons myself and just stay very situation aware if it happens. No cops, nope,no way. Ours killed an old fat man with tasers who ran a stop sign and didnt stop when flashed on a narrow street, pulled into gas station instead a 1/2 mile away, and wasnt racing either, just drove there.Of course DA says justifiable death.

I don't know what the taser deaths are here in Ontario, but there are all kinds of petitions calling for the officer here to be fired.

I just read this and that sounds like a very sick coon. They not act that way. I had on door step and they move. Smelling cat food in house just inside door.
