A sickle cuts weeds with a blade. It's not a hoe.

Hula hoe, though it has other names I've forgotten. Works pretty well, and available here in most hardware stores with a garden too section.

My hula hoe looks like the bottom picture. I've also seen them in some upscale garden catalogs, but price usually cheaper in feedstores/garden stores.

It is most commonly applied to potted plants, or to magnesium-hungry crops, such as potatoes, roses, and tomatoes.Yes peppers too! Heres a link for the Epsom Salts council on Usage in the garden EpsomSaltYeah, thanks X!!

In this book I have, its called a Dutch hoe,you push it backwards and forwards while walking backwards so you don't walk on the weeds and push them back into the ground. It also talks about a wheel-hoe as a great time saver and good for larger gardens, though you would have to space your plants to allow for its width, never seen one.I use a garden-claw to work up my soil between the rows. Great exercise.

For the last week or so I've been been digging up the amaranth weed and putting them in the garbage, I still have some more to dig.A lot of the weeds are in the grass which makes it hard to see and to dig , the wheel barrel is just about to the top .Tomorrow its suppose to rain through Sun, (this is Fri). I looked at welder gloves, all were so big I don't know if I could keep them on, will look for a smaller size.
