What a pain in the !@#$%^&*!, I got an email that should have been from my mother in law and I thought it was some recipes she sent but now my PC fan is speeding up and down and warning signs are popping up every few minutes saying I have a virus and to run the software! I'm running the AVG setup but it is slower den a son of a gun!
I NEED SOME HELP!

Thats good, I wouldn't know what to tell you to do. Glad you got it back going. Does MIL know she may have sent it, so that you don't wind up with it again? At least from email from her anyway. trudy

She may have a virus and not know it. Better check to see if her computer has protection. Can't hurt.

Douglas, first, what anti virus program are you running? And your email, was there an attachment ? ok, I have so many email accounts, it's almost embarrasing. Now the only one that I really use is Gmail, it scans the attachments, and has found a few infected ones. Anti-virus, AVG free, is up and running all the time, working over those emails as they come in...so I'm not surprised at all if you have anything BUT avg that you got your virus, But the warnings above...need to be heeded bro, the virus must have came from her machine. piggybacking on her email account. I tell ya, A good free online scan is available from TrendMicro.com. and if your're lucky enough to have hi-speed imternet, it don't take long to find out. Wish one of us had been around bro, with the name, file extension where the "bug" is located. we may have been able to eliminate it without the re-formatting...which is the easiest way...albeit iinconvenient to get rid of the bugz. I know you know this, but I always preach (and practice what I preach... Never open mail from anyone you do not know...Most email providers will allow you to adjust options allowing ONLY mail from people you know. Never open Forwarded mail...Request to your friends, that If they have a good joke they wanna pass along, copy and paste it into a fresh email to send you. (thats right...sorry Phorum Phamily members, I just delete forwarded mail) Always right click, (If needed) and have your anti-virus scan ANY attachment sent to you. Never click on that "You have Just won" or "You're computer may be infected" pop up...or ...you will be! You really haven't won an Ipod , or a laptop anywayAnd IF you're anti-virus doesn't have Email scanner, Or resident sheild...find one that does..I suggest AVG FREE EDITION
