Nice looking garlic there bro, but Garlic ain't maters... As far as the goat goodies... Goat manure is mild enough to use immediately; no curing necessary. same goes for rabbit droppings Simply spread them on the ground, scratch them into the soil surface and water. My opinion would be different ifin the rabbits or goats were fed antibiotics tho.

Hmmm there's a tiny goat "farm" down the road from here...I wonder if they have any poop they'd let me have...lol It's just a trailer on a grassy lot with a couple goats, but they have a sign out in their yard saying it's a farm..I dunno, if I get the nerve up to stop at their house, I Might try it. But I'm kinda shy and self-conscious, so I might not. Good to know about the poo being mild enough to use immediately, just in case.

Mickee, just walk up to the door, ring the door bell and ask if you can have the excess they don't want. You might be supprised. They may give you all of it.

Nice looking garlic there bro, but Garlic ain't maters Yeah, I know they aren't. I just wanted you competitors to start worrying a little! I was checking on maters with 3 cotyledon leaves. It is pretty rare. Some say they are bad, others want seeds from them and think they are special. I got one from one of Phil's batch of Belgium Giant. Have you run across this with BG before? I am taking a pic tomorrow.

Since we haven't posted the rules yet, I figure this is a good time. 1: the winner must be grown in Michigan or Minnesota No really, just joking there. Michigan only We'll get the rules for the weigh off posted soon. Great pics all of you.

Oh2, Occasionally a genetic anomoly will cause a plant to have one or two extra cotyledons. On rare occasions, three or even four cotyledons. This also will happen with pumpkins, and every year it does, and the pholks who live breath and eat giant pumpkins get all excited....Unless they have had it happen before!! unfortunately, most plants of any type being either a monocot or a tricot, are normally inferior lacking rate of growth, resistance to diesease and resistance to frost. The "mutant" plants have picked up an extra gene, this gene gives the area of dna that governs the cotyledons...two traits, instead of the normal one. although the mutant is weaker, it will have an effect on the plant overall. this by no means should keep you from growing it out to see what happens. I should say tho, that if I spot any irregularities in my Pumpkin starts, I eliminate them, but this is just from past experience. On the upside, should the plant be a great producer, and grow you a Big Un, the gene is recessive and the seed from this plant will yield a higher percentage of the tricot plants. That being said, in your picture, the suspect additional cot, looks to be extended on a petiole, which would, in my mind, make it a mutant leaf?? see arrow.... Ain't nature grand

Yeah, that leaf is strange. There is a kink in the stem where the leaf attaches. Almost like it was going to branch there. Thanks for looking!

First, put your pics on a pic hosting site like photobucket. Then click on your message where you want to put them. In the box above the message you are typing there is a faint looking picture image (4th from left in the bottom row. Click on it. You should see this [/img] Then go to your pic hosting site that you have opened in a different browser. Click on the url box next to the pic you want to post. It will show the word copied if you did it right. Then go back to your new message and click on the small gap between the IMG boxes. Right click, then hit paste and it should show up when you go to preview. It is simple really once you do it. I will check back to see how you do. Good luck!

Mine are officially in the ground as of today. Phil, our frost schedules are pretty close. It was 32 degrees Tuesday morning and now they are talking about maybe hitting 90 in a couple days. I planted the 2 BG side by side. The normal one next to the polycot. I found room for a Brandywine and a couple more Sungolds.
