Wow great photos of your chickens! Are the first two chickens considered fancy chickens?
I raise chickens, but I'm still learning the ropes! this is our 2 nd year of having chickens. We also have turkeys, 2geese, a duck, and we did have gueinas until yesterday.

Well Dap, About a week ago my neighbour, came over and he said he'd shoot every one of them if they came on his property. He was pissed at us cuz we had called the DNR on their Dog for chasing deer on our property. So he is lashing out on us for doing so. Plus My husband had just shot a coyote for geting some of our birds, we lost 2 guineas to this coyote!
So when My husbands sister came up this last weekend, she took the guineas home with her. We just thought is was best to have her take them, so the "good neighbours" won't have any reasons to pick a fight with us anymore. Course the "MR." is suh a "Hothead" I think if a feather would go on his property, he 'd be over here to complain about it!

You can usually find chickens like these at community fairs and the like. It would also be a great venture to raise them from chicks. If you raise chickens from a young age, you can tame them. As adults they already have an opinion about humans. The chickens I tamed from chicks will jump up on my lap almost like a cat. You can get all kinds of chicks including these at an online hatchery. Yes, McMurray's Hatchery is a great resource. Also, order a free catalog at mcmurrayhatchery.com/catalogrequest.html. Their catalog is an exellent informative resource for the different breeds of chickens. I haven't seen a book that can compare. Ken

I have always ordered from McMurray too !! Am always pleased with my order.
I found out this year that Ideal Poultry doesn't have the 25 chick minimum. You can order the amount you want and it doesn't have to be 25. I have never ordered from them, but may try them sometime. I don't always need 25 chicks.
;D

I noticed that too. I'll probably order from them this year. A 25 chick minimum leaves me with a huge amount of chickens. Ken

Well let us know how it goes with them. I have to wait till I get the other pens "secure" before I get anymore. Lost everything last year to dogs. Don't want to go thru that again. They pulled up a lot of fencing that I haven't got around to fixing yet... I was soooooo mad. Next time they will be shot !! I was going to try Ideal for some ducks....
