Lord, my brother-in-law would love that! He used have lots of game cocks. But not anymore, they don't allow them in jail, No, he used to have a bunch and paid a fortune for some of them.

About 2 inches jc, but if he were to fight in a pit they would be sawed down to about an inch so the steel spurs would fit better.

Caveman: I didn't know they put steel spurs on the fightin cocks, sounds a extreme. Any way if he were mine there is no way that would happen, and I'm quite sure you feel the same. He is a beauty!

I always wondered if there wasn't a better way of doin that! He said no, but I just think he didn't care.

jc, there are saws made just for spurs, but you can use a hack saw blade and it works just fine. Spurs are like one of yer nails......cut'em too short and it goes into the quick and they will bleed.

Yea I know what you are saying when it comes to cutting nails, you see my wife is a professional groomer and has taught me how to clip Dog nails. The clown I was talking about didn't know his a.. from his elbow about cutting the spurs and would always make the roosters bleed. Ruth and I have been planing on getting some laying hens, so I showed her the pics on your post of the old cock. She thinks he is beautiful, and the two other roosters as well in the other pic. We are not sure yet what breed we want, the only thing Ruth wants is brown eggs. I told her she needs Brown Chickens

We've always used a hack saw blade for cutting rooster spurs...and we keep all our roosters spurs cut down because of all the kids we have runnin' around..Right now, we don't have a mean rooster but I don't take chances with that..I knew of a little girl that got her eye put out with a rooster spur.
