Well- sometime today- we got 4 new chicks! There were 5 that hatched, but one didn't make it. I think it got too cold. Mom is teaching them well and guarding them VERY well! I took the other 7 eggs(which were cold by the time I found out she wasn't sitting on them) and put them under a heat lamp...guess we'll see what happens with them. I don't know how long she had been away from them. I have pics uploading now! They are soooo cute!

Still 4 babies this morning and they are all eating and drinking well and learning how to scratch and peck around from mom! I could sit out there all day and watch them with her- she is such a great mom!! The other 7 eggs are still out there, but nothing is happening with them. I am waiting until tonight and then gonna pip one to see if it is still alive. I think they got too cold and are all dead, but want to give them time to do their thing before giving up....

Well- the abandoned eggs all died. I just didn't have the right set up and I guess they were not meant to be. I am thinking of borrowing my friend's incubator and trying to hatch out some RIR eggs soon!!
