That's a good one caveman I wrote it down too. To me it sounds like a good seasoning for lots of things. I bet it would work great in chicken soup....or even a beef stock. Great Post!

Don't add salt, haven't for many years. Lately, even eating some prepared foods makes hubs face flush from the sodium content. Have to go back to making my own lasagna methinks.
Both of these mixes sound delish, BTW. Even though we don't use salt on foods, doesn't mean we can't spice it up a little, or a lot! Thanks for the Recipes.

Thanks for the Recipes. it's terrible how much salt is used in prepared phoods ... Laura brought Us home...what has always been a "treat: for Us...which we have about once a year... Braunschweiger... Like I sed, it was always a treat for Us...because it's obvious it isn't "health" phhod... sho wished I hadn't read the label...570 grams per 2 ounce serving I know ders other stuff with more...just that was a shock to me

Did you know people on salt restricted diets die earlier than those who arent?
As for American Heart Assoc, they are the most money grubbing self serving @%%(*$#@ you will ever meet as an organization with an agenda....which is to line their pockets with cash.

However I would agree processed food has ridiculous amts of salt,as does it with fructose whose use has exploded.....right along with diabetes...nothing to see here, please drive forward. The substitute as a SPICE does sound yummy. If I have 4 patients its rare none has diabetes, usually its a least 2,and four is very common, this is INSANE! Mrs was just saying that she cant stand processed foods any more, and to think we used to eat a ton of it,and most folks eat it to a very large degree, yuck!

As for American Heart Assoc, they are the most money grubbing self serving @%%(*$#@ you will ever meet as an organization with an agenda....which is to line their pockets with cash. I truly agree with the AHA being a money hungry, self serving organization... have seen eveidence of this time and time again... However,I (being from the Show-Me State)....would need some supporting evidence on the salt restricted diet causing earlier death comment... I see no reason for people with normal blood pressure to restrict their salt intake. but... if you already have high blood pressure, and "salt sensitive" reducing yer salt intake is helpful... I think if you just avoid processed foods...canned, frozen, pizza, any fast convenience food... and avoid the SODIUM...you will see results... Too much sodium and you have more to worry about than High blood pressure ... Too much sodium, you retain water to dilute the sodium concentration in your blood to a healthier level. As a result, you urinate less and bloating can occur So ifin yer pheelin a lil "puffy" today...think about that can of soup you had for lunch (a can of chicken noodle soup can have up to 2,690 mg of sodium. Caution should be noted tho that too much sodium restriction can also cause bloating due to yer body wanting to retain the sodium...there by also retaining...water Table salt (sodium chloride) consists of 40% sodium and 60% chloride; a teaspoon contains 2,300 mg of sodium.

I truly agree with the AHA being a money hungry, self serving organization... have seen eveidence of this time and time again... However,I (being from the Show-Me State)....would need some supporting evidence on the salt restricted diet causing earlier death comment... Yup!! They have started doing studies,FINALLY,and shock of shock, restricting salt is BAD for you and shortens life, and it isnt crack pot studies either, google away. Of course we dont need the ridiculous amts of salt,or sugars, found in processed foods, maybe we would be better off with food that naturally tastes good instead of food produced for transportation and shelf life and bug resistence and largest yield per acre that has no flavor and instead compensate for poor product with tons of salt and fructose? A lot of stuff promoted on diet is because ' it should make sense, therefore it is' without any emperical evidence to back it up,salt it now appears is one of em. Studies are showing it to be true,as they are now actually looking at numbers, what a concept. Very similar to the cholesterol studies and the dangers of those drugs, only NOW is the truth coming out on those.Yet for years there have been warning signs that got no press play at all. Drugs, organizations and money tends to skew the heck out of honesty and and common sense and evolution of the human body and what we are and should eat. Aspirin another amazing thing, studies continue to show it prevents stroke AND now cancer, cuts your chances of either in half, simple studies show things pretty clear, and people on salt restricted diets? They die sooner than average, not later. Pretty amazing!

When I have time I'll tell you how they set recommended amts of vitamins and minerals in our diet, very bad 'science' yet thats how its done, you can google that too if interested and get quite an eye opening on that.So much for the 'experts',they have bad bad science to back their levels.
So yeah, dont get me started on the dietician/dietary industry,a lot of nonsense in that field too ,tho in fairness a lot is good too.But waaaaay too much is BS without the facts to back it up.At all.Just looks good on paper,we arent paper.

Do I need to PROVE this to anybody?
NO!
Ive done the research, anybody else can too if interested. If you dont care for my conclusions your next step is to look it up,ignore it ,or take it or leave it.
Its what Ive found and am passing along,to do with it you make that choice.
Im putting out the food for thought,up to the reader if they wish to pursue it.
Went thru this with the stock market, gold and silver.I cant prove that to anybody, nor will I bother, its out there,i put out what I see/saw,and folks made their choices.Their choice to follow up if they have the desire.
If you want to educate yourself further on the topic at hand,so be it,but I wont argue it,I cant convince you one way or the other and wont try,but I will point out what Im seeing and YOU the reader are free to educate yourself on the subject and then YOU decide what works for you.
This sounds harsh, just explaining why I wont do the 'prove it' line,I dont have to to have an opinion on a subject. I dont have to prove what I think or to post my opinions,so I dont usually,as Ive said its out there,Ive researched it,others can take or leave my opinions as they see fit.
Its your health, your choices entirely,in my business Im not allowed to give my personal opinion on what you should do,nor am I allowed to discount your choices,I have to respect your choices in health care. And follow your game plan on how to treat it without prejudice.
So my point, your choice, your mindset, your level of knowledge and I can take it or leave it,but I must respect YOUR OPINION FWIW without you having to PROVE it to me.Wether I agree or not,I still get to make MY personal choice too.

So I have been using more black pepper. I like that also. I can feel when I have had too much salt. Never bothered me before though. Now I have my Blood pressure down I would like to keep it that way!

No proof needed bro...don't suppose "proof" exists anyway Probably no evidence for... or against salt that couldn't be Debunked anyway.. all we have is conflicting research...on anything we consume... coffee is good for ya/coffee is bad for ya, butter versus margarine...blah..blah ...blah
Nope...I just never heard that salt restriction could cause early death. And I have never known any case of it personally... but then, I'm far removed from the health profession and modern medicine
I love brined meats like corned beef..Love sauerkraut...Heck I like salt in general... I don't think You can prepare a good meal without some to bring out the other flavors and moisture in some foods...... BUT ... ...I can tell when I've had too much salt intake...and that is not a good feeling...
