Oh, PHIL!!! We need da recipe agree..... I love french onion soup, but have never made it. WAIT! Rita- Don't you make it?? What is your recipe? you are a great cook!! 2706 I do I bastardize the heck out of all recipe's anyhow for 2 I usually caramelize 4 sliced onions .. when those are done add about 1/4 cup red wine deglaze the pan with that add 2 cans beef broth a few drops of worschiworsestsch stuff a pinch of thyme a few bay leaves extra beef bullion if needed or wanted and pepper thats about it course the bread and cheese .. I don't float it because I don't like soggy cheese I usually brown the bread and then melt the cheese on that RECIPE ... I don't need no stinkin' Recipe ... Yep, that's about it Rita.... I do "sweat" the onions (sliced extra thin with my CrAzY Knife skills) then, with the onions I "bring em down" (carmelize) them 4-5 times.. De-glazing each time. (1st. pass I use a mix of water and balsamic vinegar..just a touch) agree Ya know floating bread or cheese on top may look fancy..and is good..but I prefer the clarity of the soup by not doing so and having the cheesy bread..I am on Laura's computer (another of the things I have been fighting is my computer) I will fetch the recipe for that..it's really good

Love Kitchen Bouquet! I have a huge bottle of it! I use it in soups and stews for flavor and coloring. But it is Corn and soy based so I cannot eat it any longer. For now anyway
