I did finally find barley and what I has found in store was instant and looked like rolled oats. I guess it would taste okay. It is hard to find. Sprouts is bulk store and high. Got quinoa there and the barley. One kind new to me beans also. I have only used barley so far in veggie soup. I have several kinds of rice. I could not make brown rice cook up tender. So if use in soup it would be small amount to eat at a time.

I have been enjoying seeing what every one is chowing down on. But it looks like we have all quit eating. For whatever its worth I haven't lost any weight. So I am about try try something new. well not new but a different way of cooking them. Yep, pork neck bones. Have cooked a lot and eaten a lot but always in greens or beans. I was at the market and saw a package with lots of meat. It said buy me I am good. So I did. Going to smoke them on the pit with hickory wood. When I get the smoke I want, gonna sauce and foil them, cook until super tender. I think they can be just like eating ribs, maybe even better. CF

I have finally gained some wt. Which I needed.
I have not seen any neck bones at the store. I like some meat in my beans. I think be good as ribs. I use scrap bacon or any ham bone or ham pieces/rind in beans.
It seems I eat the same old things. But trying for a bit more protein, I fry some scrap bacon and make a sandwich. Just bacon and bread.

Nothing wrong with a bacon sandwich Colorado! Lol I got some GF bread and had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was so good!! Maybe later peanut butter and honey toast?? Thing is it costs about 5 bucks for a loaf of GF bread then the kids come out and bam there went my GF bread!! I might have to go thru this thread and figure out what Dave is having for dinner. Or maybe he will have canned chinese stuff. I call crap in a can. But he loves it!!

I baked peanut butter cookies yesterday about 4 and house was hot last night.
Bread I am using now is just plain white bread. I use one slice for sandwich. As long as have other food. Supper will be bacon sandwich, half cup green beans and pudding and milk. Maybe a few chips.
Golden Corral now sells you a small take home box for $2 to fill and take home. I did not buy one and got to thinking I will next time and fill it real full of meat loaf. I could make that with beans in to big kettle of chili or sandwiches. Least one in Vernal doing that.
I have a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes with green chilies. I think good to add to kettle of pinto beans. I gave DIL 3 smaller cans of dinner starter. Tomato sauce with spinach. I can not have spinach. Good thing I read the label.

I had lunch at senior center yesterday. Bowl of soup. Lot liquid and rick brown has some beef cubes, beans, potato and I an sure kale. No kale on my diet. But I ate it and bite of salad as dark greens. Soup was good. They serve family style there and what is left on table you can take home. We had good bread. They had boxes and bags to put it in. I did not want soup but the bread I did. I had bagged two slices of bread and some one bagged another for me from somewhere. While I was taking my dishes to the clean up place. Was not a lot of kale on soup.
Tonight is green beans and turkey gravy and slice of bread. Last of the bread.
